"Just pray and you will feel good about your horrible life." That's terribly irresponsible advice. Prayer won't make his drunken abusive father stop beating the shit out him and his mother. The police will. The police are definitely the ones to be asking for help in this situation, not the magic sky-man.

No kidding. Rome seems to forget that the "first pope", Peter, was married. But then their theory is that the pope can have affairs, command armies, rape priests, get nuns pregnant, pilfer from the treasury, oppress nations whose rulers they disagree with, etc. etc. ad nauseum, and that's all okay because they're infallible.
