Anal sex really is not messy if you clean and douche your ass properly and there are many valid ways of getting the ass clean for anal sex some better then others. Probably the best although the most time consuming is to get a hot water bag and use it up in your ass and that will get you pretty much spotless. However there are other more easier methods like using wet wipes or water to goad all of the excess shit out of your body.
However it is true that not all gay men have anal sex. Some do not like it for various reasons.

However don't fool yourself into thinking that vaginas somehow have it better. An unclean vagina is pretty much as bad as a unclean ass. Plus women have their periods there, they deliver children there and if not cleaned well it could be foul smelling and rotten. The point is if you have a hole that you are letting things in.
