Gay Marriage Updates By State

^^^The Imperial County issue will go nowhere:

-He applied WAY past the deadline

-He doesn't represent the state as a whole

I'm hoping a LOT of old time, Tammany Hall style Politicos wind up hung out to dry.

There's been way too much back scratching in dark rooms by some of the Albany machine.

^^^I remember hearing that the New York Attorney General was going to investigate him. We'll just have to wait and see.

Very promising article regarding gay marriage for New York this year:

Apparently Shirley Huntley may vote yes if she's needed to be the deciding vote (kinda like Conway in the Maryland Senate)! Also, even if Kruger is still in office by the time this comes to a vote, him being outed will likely increase his chances of voting Yes. It seems now the only Democrat who's immovable is Diaz.

As far as Republicans, Grisanti may very well vote yes (and rumors are may co-sponsor it as well!). I also think Mathis (SP), the Freshmen Republican in Nassau County is a possible yes, given the fact he has not stated a position on the issue and the high support for gay marriage on Long Island.

Postponment of Maryland gay marriage bill a strategic move by gay rights groups?

http://www.washingtonblade.com/2011/03/16/‘strategic-blunder-of-monstrous-proportions’/

If they think this is in the best interest of passing the bill then great, but we need to campaign heavy for next year, like how New York has been.

Good grief HRC is idiotic. I can't stand when they fuck things up like this. Their management is so incompetent.

1. Even if they didn't have 71 confirmed yes, people can still decide to change their vote at the last minute. This happened for some in the US Senate on the DADT vote. At least give people the chance to have an up or down vote.

2. Even if it did fail, then at least we know who is opposed to it so they can be campaigned against on that or if another vote does come up next year, more pressure could be applied to those people specifically.

^^^Yes and Yes, though I think more pressure will be applied to the House of Delegates for a vote next year regardless. The Senate is safe IMO since it's already recorded who voted what, and when they vote for equality it's very hard for anyone to backtrack (because then you will have pissed off two groups of people).

Support for gay marriage, the details

For the first time in Washington Post-ABC News polls, a slim majority supports legal same-sex marriage, an increase of 16 percentage points over eight years of polls.

One of the biggest shifts in opinion has occurred among men, who’ve been consistently against same-sex marriage. A majority of men now say it should be legal, matching the number of women who say so. Another big jump has been among college-educated whites, up 10 percentage points in a year to 65 percent overall.
