Gay McDonald's ad in France

The ad seems ok to me. Not sure what else gay people would expect from a 30 second ad from a fast food chain. Maybe have the kid show his dad his gay porn stash on his phone? Or tell his dad all the dirty details about how he gives his bf a blowjob?

This ad certainly is much more than McD would ever do in my country, at least through any mainstream media.

I would have rather seen a couple on a date, sharing food. Not a teenage kid who's in the closet.

Considering more teenagers are closeted than they are out, I think the ad targets the correct demographic. I don't think the ad is saying "come out of the closet"; that would have nothing to do with selling hamburgers. I think it is just basically saying "everyone is welcome."

Of course you're right. But as a gay man, I'd rather see out and happy kids rather than kids hiding things from their parents. But my gripe isn't so much with the ad but with the closet.

The message is "come as you are". I'd rather have the ad be Leonardo DiCaprio and Jake Gyllenhaal kissing.

As a gay man I'm just happy to see a gay ad period that is not for Vodka or sex.

I've noticed that whenever a company tries to show their open minds to people in terms of homosexuality, the more critical people are the gay people themselves.

Lighten up damn it.

In Germany: Segmüller also goes gay.

And very offensive - look at the two hotties below...

France is magic. It's managed to make McDonald's not seem trashy at all.

"Come as you are"

I regret that this actually struck a chord with me. Damn allergies.

I hate McDonalds, but this vid is delicious.

I love this ad.

French isn't an 'accent'. It's a 'language'.

That is the silliest thing I have heard in a long time. Don't bother correcting someone if the end result doesn't make even a small bit of sense.

There is such a thing as a French accent, just as their is an American accent. Just because the language happens to be spoken with this accent doesn't mean they suddenly merge into one. It is possible to speak English in a French accent, you know.

In England and Ireland, we both speak English but in England, they speak it in an English accent. (And, if you hadn't got it yet, it's both a language and an accent!) In Ireland, they speak it in an Irish accent.

Hope this clears it up for you, despite the continuation of your condescending tone.

DP.

Watching it again, is there a sort of subtext going on that says, "Looking for a place to come out to your father ? Take him to McDonald's !"

Hmm...
