Gay Men, Comic Books, and Geeking Out

I have high hopes for "Fear itself", especially since Matt Fraction is one of the best writers in comics right now. I am very leery on Marvels yearly events though, many started great only to fizzle in the end (Secret Invasion, World War Hulk) or outright sucked (House of M). I did think Civll War was brilliant however.

Batman Beyond was a truly great animated series, wonderfully written, well animated, and the voices perfectly cast (Kevin Conroy is the ONLY voice for Batman, if only they could have dubbed him over the silly gurgle that Christian Bale used in his movies LOL). And what a great gift, hold on to that BF of yours. Not sure if your aware but DC is starting a new Batman Beyond comic book series and it looks like it'll be pretty good. To hit on some earlier topics, I also was a fan of "Death Note" but...

::::SPOILER ALERT::::

...I thought the series lost some of it's potency when M died.

::::SPOILER ALERT OFF::::

Have any of you seen the live action movies? They're not bad but the actor playing Light is nowhere near as cute as he was drawn in the series:

The actor who played him though was the talented Tatsuya Fujiwara who starred in the amazing "Battle Royale" films (get your gay geek asses to your local blockbuster or log on to your Netflix queue and get these movies now!). There has long been buzz that Hollywood will make a "Death Note" film and that Zac Effron is the favorite to play Light, he certianly does resemble him.

Anybody getting DC Universe Online when it goes live on January 11th?

eh, I'ld rather Nicholas Hoult as Light and Michael Pitt as L but that's just me.

Comic books? The Walking Dead and Buffy Season 8, I also may get into Fables. I read through the entire 100 bullets comic, very well done and I suggest it. I've read marvel and DC 'mainstream' titles, and I tend to prefer Marvel Art, and DC writing.

Movies? I LOVE movies. I try to keep an eye on the new ones coming out, and I enjoy a large variety of movies.

Music, same thing.

Gaming? My xbox is my best friend xD. Plus I play some computer games.

TV - The Walking Dead, Glee, United States of Tara are my current watches(yah yah, stfu bout glee -.-) Dark Angel, Farscape, Startrek TNG, DS9 and Voyager, Stargate SG1(not atlantis) and Firefly(DAMN YOU TO HELL FOX)

Oh My God! You are a fucking genius! Nicholas Hoult is THE CHOICE to play Light.

Not only is he beautiful like Light (which aint just window dressing, Light's beauty is an important component of the Light persona), he is a fine young actor to boot. No offense to Mr. Effron but I don't think he has the chops to play such a complex character as Light Yagami. The sweet, polite, dedicated student and dutiful son in public and the sociopath with a God complex in private.

Glafna, The Walking Dead TV series was something special huh? To bad we gotta wait almost a full year for the second season, but at least we will get 12 episodes.

After giving short shrift to both Firefly & Dollhouse, Joss Whedon should have his head examined if he ever does business with FOX again.

...They have a live action movie of Death Note...where have I been? u_u
And yeah, Nick Hoult does look a lot like a Mister Light. Good eye

has anyone watched the new shazam and superman...greatt

Hey, Sinestro- I assume that you mean Superboy prime? Well, at first, I thought that he was hot as hell - after all I am a fan of the original Superboy- Kal-El! But, he did turn into a bit of a problem for the entire universe didn't he? In some ways though, he got my sympathy. I wouldn't want to be locked away in alternate "pocket' universe either. And, if I were deprived of my parents, my girlfriend (or boyfriend), and my entire life, I might go mad too. It just goes to show that Superman/Superboy needs the normal life of his Clark Kent alter ego. It provides him the balance that he needs to prevent him from becoming a maniacal being of increble power and skill.

Superman/Superboy sometimes gets accused of being a too good "boy scout". But, Superboy primes gave us all a look at what can happen with a superbeing who forgets his normal life as a human.

Ahh that makes sense. Yeah and if memory serves didn't it take both Superman and Superboy to take him on? Its a good thing Kal-el is on our side and not an enemy. Although I have to admit being Kryptonian or even a Daxamite would be awesome.

@Kiros420 Why thank you! And Happy Belated Holidays to everyone.

Ohh, and yeah Superman/Shazam was pretty awesome, but it was short. Extremely so compared to the other DC animated movies. But I enjoyed the fighting scenes and liked Superman's new look. It's different from Superman/Batman Public Enemies and Apocalypse. The latter I could watch over and over, I LOVED Wonder Woman in it and seeing her taking charge and being the leader she is. Wonder what DC's next animated movie will be, hmm...

Does anyone here watch Being Human on BBC? I started watching it early in the year, and I love it. I just found out that SyFy is bringing the show to the States. I'm a bit skeptical as to how it will work out, but I'm willing to give it a try because they've cast the gorgeous Sam Witwer as the lead. Some of y'all will recognize him as Starkiller in both Star Wars: Force Unleashed games, or as Davis Bloom/Doomsday from Smallville, or maybe as Crashdown from the first season of Battlestar Gallactica. I hope SyFy doesn't screw this up the way they did with Caprica.

For those who don't know who Sam Witwer is, here's a photo:

And just because I think he's hot as hell, here is his British counterpart, Aidan Turner:

I have heard so many good things about "Being Human" I have the first season in my netflix queue, can't wait to see it.

I can't believe that I didn't realize Sam Witwer was Starkiller in those Star Wars games. I wouild see the commercials on TV and think to myself, He sure looks like somebody I know LOL.

I liked Witwer a lot on Smallville, I remembered how they took every opportunity they could plotwise to get his shirt off in a scene, not that I'm complaining mind you.

Any Smallville fan will know they do the same thing with Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen/Green Arrow), again...not complaining.

"Caprica" wore off on me quickly, I was such a huge BSG fan that I was just happy to have something I could still watch that was BSG related. The show wasn't bad by any means but it paled in comparison to its forbear, I just stopped watching after the 6th episode. I did love little William Adama's gay mafioso uncle though LOL.

Starkiller (our fellow poster, not Sam Witwer LOL), the next DC animated film will be "All Star Superman" and it's coming out early February. It will be based on the excellent Grant Morrison/Frank Quietly mini series a couple years back.

OK Kiros, Kristen Bell is your wife? You have some splainin to do.

Anybody else watching Lord Of The Rings on TNT again for the billionth time?

Yeah. I'd go straight for Kristen Bell. ahahaha.

Veronica Mars? Check.

Elle on Heroes? (Electricity Powers=Awesome) Check.

Wore a Leia Bikini? Check.

Need I say more? Shes sexy as hell and awesome in everything. I'm in love with her.

Like. Goddamn. Shes one awesome chick.

Oh OK, I gotcha. I never really got into "Veronica Mars" so I missed her there, but I sure remember her from "Heroes" (Elle as in...electricity, hey I got that) and I happen to be a huge fan of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and I did love her in that.

Heroes was one of my favorite shows. I'm sad it got canceled, as it looked like it was getting even better when reveal her power to the media.

Love, love, love Being Human. I am a bit skeptical about the remake too... only because of how much I absolutely love the British series.

Still, Sam Witwer is very HOT!

:D

Here's the poster - and there's a trailer for it too -

^^I'm already using the "Lady Killer" picture as my avatar. He's so freaking hot! Sam Huntington looks good too. In any case, if the writers for the show do the same quality of work that they did with BSG, I will be a complete BH whore. Or maybe even the same quality as Eureka. I haven't watched that show in forever. I used to love it.

^^ From the promo it looks pretty interesting. I haven't watched the UK original... I should probably go check that out just to get a feel of what's in store.

I just watched a marathon of Being Human the other day online. Trust me, Starkiller, you'll love it. And if you don't feel like coughing up the cash, just in case you may not like the series, go to watch-series dot com. They have every episode from both seasons uploaded. Right now, I'm about to watch The Walking Dead. Need to get my zombie fix. Then I'll catch up on my Naruto: Shippuden. BTW, does anyone when the next major story arc will begin? I'm ready to see Naruto move on from conquering Pain.

*Never mind, the new episode of Naruto doesn't air until next week.
