I have high hopes for "Fear itself", especially since Matt Fraction is one of the best writers in comics right now. I am very leery on Marvels yearly events though, many started great only to fizzle in the end (Secret Invasion, World War Hulk) or outright sucked (House of M). I did think Civll War was brilliant however.
Batman Beyond was a truly great animated series, wonderfully written, well animated, and the voices perfectly cast (Kevin Conroy is the ONLY voice for Batman, if only they could have dubbed him over the silly gurgle that Christian Bale used in his movies LOL). And what a great gift, hold on to that BF of yours. Not sure if your aware but DC is starting a new Batman Beyond comic book series and it looks like it'll be pretty good. Sneak peak of the 1st issue cover (artwork courtesy of the Great Dustin Nguyen) :
To hit on some earlier topics, I also was a fan of "Death Note" but...
::::SPOILER ALERT::::
...I thought the series lost some of it's potency when M died.
::::SPOILER ALERT OFF::::
Have any of you seen the live action movies? They're not bad but the actor playing Light is nowhere near as cute as he was drawn in the series:
The actor who played him though was the talented Tatsuya Fujiwara who starred in the amazing "Battle Royale" films (get your gay geek asses to your local blockbuster or log on to your Netflix queue and get these movies now!). There has long been buzz that Hollywood will make a "Death Note" film and that Zac Effron is the favorite to play Light, he certianly does resemble him.
Anybody getting DC Universe Online when it goes live on January 11th?

Does Tom of Finland count as a comic book?
