Who is Virginia? And what is her relationship to gay red knecks?

Well, I'm bascially referring to attitudes amongst the gay community about others of the gay community.
This is not really news, but I still think it unfortunate.
Who or what is "Freebird"?

He probably means 'Freebird' the epic guitar solo workout song by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Of course. Doesn't mean I hafta like it.
The idea is to be flexible enough that you can look at a presumption in light of new information, and be able to readjust or realign your thinking/beliefs.
And no, not everyone can or WANTS to do that.
It could.
I am far from that philosophical lacking the requisite cognitive processes or, perhaps, inclination.
Of course we have a choice. Some decide to not accept the changes/challenges and fight tooth and nail against them, or, they just leave.
Resistance to the flow of our life's harmonious direction is the catalyst for an enormous amount of mental distress, and disharmony in our life. The consequences of which evidence the ongoing attempts of life to encourage us to continue embracing life's challenges. In other words our self created, perpetuating problems are clear evidence of our turmoils becoming our learning lessons.
There's several billion dollars industries out there caterting to that mindset.
We are talking about, or at least I am segregating two aspects. That which is ongoing and occurs everytime I awake to the present, and that which is the higher cognitive, reflective, ruminative process in which the philosophers dwell.
It could also be said that the higher self, is reflective of the greater wholeness, that is never philosophical, rather creative in its willingness to assist, those who seek out such life affirming help.
Most people just get up and live their lives such as they are... some few have the epiphony that can be the open door which leads in a heretofore
unexpected, or even unknown direction.
That is the risk of living ones life to the full. To rise from our sleep and to wonder what wondrous adventures, life will offer us today. Life is a great adventure, that always points us in the direction of Shangri La. Of course the mountain peaks need to be scaled. The fast flowing rivers, need to be forded. And the ever present pit of self pity has to be side stepped.
I am of the former. Where we came from can be beneficial, and certainly interesting, where we're going is an unknown though it can be fun to speculate sometimes, but the PRESSING moment of the now is what captures and demands the majority of our resources.
Hope is always at our side, encouraging us to grasp its hand, and raise us out of our self excavated pit of misery. At least for those who will listen too and implement the life affirming advice, from within their innermost life.[/quote]I'm not going to deny that there are those for how the quick gulping of a happy pill is a jolly good panacea for dealing with what they choose not to deal with.
However, I am also a proponent of the belief that for some, and not necessarily a small handful, there is some serious wiring issues going on that have their root in genes turned on or off and some pharmaceuticals are a necessity in dealing with such.
As bodily organs can be screwed up from birth, so too the brain and oftimes, pharmaceuticals can bring much needed relief and allow these people to live as "normal" and functional a life as is possible for them.
Not sure if you're implying such, but as I read the above quoted words, it appeared that your tone was less than sympathetic for those so afflicted. I hope that's not the case. There's enough red neck ignorance in the world.
Judgements on the life of others, is not ours to make. But treating the symptoms, does not heal the causation. That takes our personal intervention, and courage to rely upon our own inner strengths.
My wished for boyfriend Justin Timberlake is not gay, but he is sort of redneck-ish...I think.
Because he's got it like that!
