Pick up the Nov 20 issue of Soap Opera Digest -- Natalia Livingston (ex-Emily, "General Hospital") is on the cover.
Here's what SOD had to say about the Quartermaine's leaving the show
"In 2004, Q matriarch Lila died in her sleep when her portrayer, Anna Lee, passed away at age 91.
In 2005, AJ was killed in a months-long murder mystery.
2006 saw Justus shot and dumped into a trunk and in 2007, Alan died of a heart attack after the Metro Court hostage crisis.
Now, the Qs have lost their beloved Emily. Is the end near for the first family of Port Charles?
'Great, make me feel even worse,' chuckles Bob Guza (headwriter). 'I can see how some people might think that, but in the case of Emily, [Natalia] was going anyway. We could have recast her. That's a fair argument, except I so love Natalia and Tyler [Christopher, Nikolas] together that it's hard to imagine recasting either for any reason.'
Hmmm. I don't really buy his version. Yes, Emmy-winner Livingston (I STILL can't believe she won an Emmy two years ago) decided to leave .... but there was no reason they couldn't have re-cast her.
Afterall, she was a re-cast! She took over in 2003 for Amber Tamblyn who created the role of Emily back in 1995.
