Star Wars: The Complete Saga comes out on Blu-ray September 16th. It's been known that puppet Yoda has been replaced with CGI Yoda in Phantom Menace for a little while now, but it was just confirmed that Lucas has added Vader's infamous "NO" to one of the biggest scenes in the franchise. There's also some new Krayt Dragon call in A New Hope.

Anyway, I can't help but laugh at this. I'm not crazy about Star Wars, but I am a fan. Some of the changes in the past have bothered me, but this is just too ridiculous. I honestly don't know what is going through his head. The guy needs to chill out already.

WTF is wrong with George Lucus ?

I soon as I heard about the Blu-ray's coming out, I knew he's add yet ANOTHER something to screw up the original feel of the film.

And sure enough.....

Hey George ? How about during "A New Hope" as C-3PO is being lowered into his bath of lubricate cleaner you have him say, "Oh ! Thank the higher power of your choice !" ?

LEAVE THE FUCKING FILMS ALONE, GEORGE !!!

You've been rich and powerful and famous for SO long it's messed with what's left of your head !

..| my thoughts exactly

...If he can't leave Star Wars alone, why doesn't he just make some more episodes..?

I've always somewhat defended the special editions and even think some of the changes actually made sense, like adding Ian McDiarmid to Empire. However, some of the things he'd done have seemed to be solely for the purpose of fucking with the fans, like adding Hayden Christensen to Jedi and now adding the infamous "NOOOO!" to Jedi. I suspect he'll add even more shit when he start converting the movies to 3D.

You're right...if he still feels the need to be so creative with the Star Wars franchise, he should just make more movies. Personally, I'd love to see episodes taking place in between the prequels and the original trilogy to show us how the Empire took shape and the formation of the Rebellion.

^ Wow !

I just quoted myself !

HOW did that happen ?

The Vbulletin Gods are angry this weekend, my friends !

Beware the grape Kool-Aid !

Although, on the positive side, that was my first exposure to the audio from the Blu-ray's !

Holy hoo ha !

Is it possible to blow a subwoofer ?? ;)

Oh, God !

I hadn't even thought about that !

"These are not the droids you're looking for..."

"These are not the droids we're looking for...."

"However, you might try looking at the 24 hour Subway now visible over my left shoulder where for a limited time they are offering double meat or veggies free on your foot long with the purchase of a 22 oz. beverage in a limited edition Star Wars cantina cup complete with a secret code for the new Xbox360 3D game available for holiday gift giving."

Chewie: "ARRRGHH"

"What's that Chewie ? Oh yes, the first 10.000 downloads will get to discuss if Han Solo should have shot first or not !"

The horror of it all.

George Lucas is clearly an obsessive perfectionist and can't stop tinkering with the original trilogy.

SUGGESTION:

If he's so dissatisfied, why does he not simply re-film the entire trilogy again, with brand new actors?

They're doing so many reboots of franchises these days, that no-one would blink an eye.

COMING SOON: Star Wars Episode IV v. 2.0: A Newer Hope

He is responsible for one of the most successful and recognizable film franchises, and he never seems happy with it. I wouldn't call it perfectionism, he is only making his original work worse. Especially this latest change, Vader's body language in that scene was dramatic enough without needing to add dialogue to it. Maybe Lucas should also add thought bubbles next. "Oh no, that's my son. I should save him."

after this I'm sure there will be a "directors cut" so that everyone buys it all again. Actually I'm not gonna buy the latest issue until there is a directors cut. I understand that there was up to another 2 hours of film for the revenge of the sith film that was edited out to make the film shorter. Would be good to see some of that in the movie.

Although there is no real purpose to the no being added I can kinda see why it's in. He used it when he heard of the death of his wife and children and again he's feeling the same pain watching Luke being hurt. But I agree with or without it, it adds nothing really for me.

He probably will never release the original in High Definition the only kind of shit you will get that is close to the original is the Trilogy that was released in the 90s on Laser Disc and VHS.

I grabbed Empire Strikes Back on Laser Disc a couple of years ago for $2 just because I loved the box art. If only I had something to play it on.

For a dude who made three really brilliant movies (a long time ago, in a galaxy not so far away), George Lucas is quite stupid.

As only a passing watcher of these movies (I was FAR more of a Trekker) can I ask JUBbers a question....

Has Lucas made it IMPOSSIBLE for fans to be able to obtain or to watch the original versions of the trilogy as they were released in the cinema in 1977/1980/1983?

wow that sucked - he ruined the scene

no surprise though - Lawrence Kasdan wrote the best movie of the series, Empire Strikes Back

and #'s 1 2 & 3 were pretty mediocre

I neither understood that one nor did I like it. Yoda didn't get younger. Obi Wan didn't get younger. It was a senseless change.
