dems and libs are all about personal freedoms no? had a huge problem with gwb's taking liberties with personal freedoms post 911 no???

wiretapping
patriot act
etc.

i got it - didn't agree with it - but understood the idea that erosion of those rights was a little scary

but now ?

so it goes both ways silly boy and at least admit that

personally i think there's gotta be a better way than touching junk

but until i hear what it is touch away

cause i want the plane to make it to the destination

Yes, liberals and progressives have been railing against this for a decade now!

But for people like you who say, "golly, gee, if it makes us safer, then sure grope away".

Please explain why the uber-intrusive TSA has not caught, prosecuted, and convicted a single, not a sole, nor one soul, one, individual that has sought to blow up an airplane. Why is that? The TSA didn't catch the "shoe bomber", nor the "underwear bomber", nor any other attempted bomber. Who did catch these people? OTHER PASSENGERS!!!

So while the American sheep, like yourself, all line up, saying to themselves, "gee I feel safer" while being raped by the government who hasn't caught a single terrorist at the airport, EVER, Americans are forced to abdicate their freedoms en masse. No thanks Chance.

I agree with you, save one thing.

Progressives and Liberals are no more an ally of freedom on this than the republicans. They don't give two shits about it. They were given the chance to make significant changes to the patriot act, but did not do so. Now, they have the opportunity to use their power to ask questions about what is going on with the TSA's latest actions, and they refuse.

If you think they honestly care, then you're more gullible than I thought.

interesting because right now seems like there are more republicans/conservatives fighting this while liberals appear to be backing pres. obama

my point is it is a political issue with each side using it as a weapon

as for the underwear bomber silly this method was not used then - that's the point

thanks for the "you're a sheep" - you might try just once not to attack someone in a post - might make you smile more

i think the tsa is doing the best they can now - obviously its not good enough - and they will have to figure out how to revise this policy

and i trust they will

trust a little rock

trust a little

its for a good cause

to save lives

maybe yours

MR ...don't fly. It is not any sort of a right. Feel free to take a non groped Train, Ship, Bus or ride a fucking donkey.

Interesting that when it came to take a stand or get to your destination the "OPT OUT" folks backed down like bitches.

So there you have it... Busiest travel day of the year. No delays, no boycotts, no problem. I guess the people voted with their .... convenience ... The scanners are a go...

:)

^I might agree with the 4th Amendment issue, so long as we have some kind of right to fly. We do not, however. One of our legislators here in NJ, brought up a good point, though.

Why don't we have a right to fly?

Freedom of movement is a right.
Freedom to choose the means of movement is a right.
Freedom of association is a right.
Freedom to contract with others is a right.

So freedom to move on the means of my choice along with others with whom I chose to do so via contract is a right.

That means if I want to fly, and the airline wants to sell me a ticket, it is my and their right to make that contract and carry it through.

If flying isn't a right, then no economic transaction whatsoever is a right. If the government can step in and impose arbitrary restrictions by people not attached to the airlines, then there is no single bit of activity between persons they cannot regulate. -- all they have to do is say it's for the greater good or benefit.
At which point, the only reason gays have for objecting to John McCain is a personal disagreement -- if the government says no gays in the military is for the greater good, then we should just shut up and take it, like with airplanes.

Touching people's genitals, including their buttocks, even through clothing, may constitute a crime in NJ. Especially as it relates to kids. That makes it sexual assault, believe it or not. So there's going to be some kind of pissing match between NJ and the feds about this matter. I'd love to see a TSA slug dragged out of an airport in bracelets.

It would just cause another civil war, except this time Washington would be leading the fight in favor of slavery....

Would be fun, though. Were I the governor, I'd post state cops at the airports to observe, and just start arresting every time one of the TSA goons crosses the line -- which, if they're like the ones I've been seeing on TV, will be before the cops get settled in for observing.

So don't get in line.
(And ignorance of the law is not an acceptable defense.)

That's one of the more authoritarian, anti-freedom principles ever concocted.

Whoa. I've opted out and been patted down two or three times in the past month.

Nobody ever put their fingers on the inside of my pants.

Wow -- I'm watching it over and over on the news, with lots of different TSA goons, including one leaning in to watch.

](*,) So let me get this str8. For nearly a decade Progressives and Liberals have been decrying the nonsense of the TSA and the unruly searches. (An agency created by Republicans I might add). But the response from the wingnuts has been, "Meh, if you don't like it leave". But NOW, once wingnut radio has picked up the story and a Democrat is in the White House, NOW it's a problem suddenly??? Unfuckingreal. :grrr:

America is fucking doomed.

If you insist on painting the world in ideology color-by-number, that's one way to see it. I see it as suddenly things crossed the line in so many minds where there's a "STOP!! SEX BEYOND THIS POINT!!" sign. I'm just waiting for the "bulletin" from the FRC comparing airport pornography in action to gay marriage......

Please explain why the uber-intrusive TSA has not caught, prosecuted, and convicted a single, not a sole, nor one soul, one, individual that has sought to blow up an airplane. Why is that? The truly intriguing thing there is that conservatives, who supposedly believe in individual liberty and self-reliance, haven't proposed (as far as I've found) one single program that would empower passengers to do more catching. Seriously, would a real conservative have suggested issuing "Stop that terrorist!" kits to any passengers who wanted them?

On a lighter note:

Sorry, this was the only thread about airport security that I could find. I didn't want to start an entirely new thread just for this.

A friend sent me his observations about recent flights. Even as an old person, I got a good laugh out of it. A line fit for a stand-up comedian.

One of the things I've noticed in my recent travels is that people over 75 no longer need to take off their shoes before boarding an airplane. Old folks would be ideal suicide bombers as they aren't going to live much longer anyway.
