"Getting to know you...

My vacation has started today. I finished work at 4 and I now have 2 whole weeks off (I bet I'll get a panic call next week). We're planning to do trips to wherever we fancy (probably will finally finish the Jack-the-Ripper walk we started in February) and we will spend a few days in Norfolk in a friend's cottage. Hopefully later in the year we'll go to Holland to visit friends and family.

You?

Our Summer Vacation plans are pretty much on hold since we found out about my mom's brain tumor.
We were going to go out to Indiana with her to visit families for some significant anniversaries, but plans have changed.

Now they're coming here a few at a time.

Been feeling like this a bit lately.

What meals are your "special" meals that you really enjoy but don't get to have very often?

I really love tagliatelli with spinach, bacon bits, parmesan cheese, basil and lots of garlic but that is a big no-no as the mother in law can't stand garlic (and she drones on and on about it whenever garlic is mentioned - so I've given up on that one).
I love stir fries, dim sum and adore Indonesian and Thai food, anything that's fresh, spicy and fragrant.

How about you?

My mom's gumbo and her crawfish etouffee. She makes them maybe once every two years.

Who's your best friend?

My best friend is a straight guy named Jeremy. We consider each other soul mates. We always joke about if he was gay, or if I was a girl, how perfect of a couple we would be.

Do you get attached to a favorite pair of underwear? You wear them every time they get washed or you save them for that "special occasion". You even feel bad if the get to a point were the need thrown out?

yes. I bought two pairs of olive green Greggs some years ago in Canada that I absolutely love. I wear them as often as possible. Sadly they're getting a bit tatty now. I wish there was a decent choice in this country, when I lived in the Netherlands it seemed I could get a wider range than here (unless I go to Soho/London where chances I'll find what I like are greater). On-line shopping is an option but I prefer seeing and feeling what I buy before I buy.

Do you entertain much?

Like house parties? I think I've had only 2 this year. I wish I'd have more. I like having get-togethers at my place.

Are you allergic to any foods?

Appendectomy during my first quarter at college. Small spot of Melanoma excised from my arm several years ago. Six upper teeth pulled (including two "Wisdoms"), with bone grafts, last Feb., implants going in soon. Other than that, I've been pretty lucky.

I've worked in Hospitals. What is Your "take" on them?

They're alright. I'm sure working in one gets you used to the "atmosphere".

If offered to you, would you be the President of your country?

We have some excellent hospitals in our area - URMC is one of the top 50 Teaching Hospitals - their Neurosurgery program is ranked 5th - my mom had the Head doc in charge.

Our "competing" hospital organizations have cooperated for decades - they were a model for the country at one point - still are.

What kinds of foundation plantings do you have around your domicile?

I have had good luck with hospitals. Only problem is that you can never get sleep. Always waking you up during the night either giving meds or taking vitals.

Fan of cartoons?

For years.

Watched Johnny Quest, and a host of others (heavy ITV fan) back in the day.

How about the old B&W Saturday PM grade B movies?

it's okay for me. not really a big fan but sometimes i watch my movie in 3D mode

do you have any fetish?

That is for me to know and you to find out.

of course I do........

Ever been served a summons?

For some reason (I can't remember why) I'm opposed to donating my organs after my death. I also believe in an opt-in system as opposed to the opt-out system some countries have.

I have no religious objections (I'm an atheist), I don't think I'd want someone else's organ(s) in me (apart from my partner's ;)) if it came to that. Maybe I'll change my mind when/if the time comes and I'm faced with that option.

I do however believe that everybody should make that choice for them self regardless of what I feel for me. I have no objection with organ donation and or transplants as such.

Do you think that fertility treatment should be part of the NHS? (in the UK that is the National Health Service, I have no idea what that's called on the other side of the pond or if IVF is part of national healthcare)

We don't have National Health Care as such - but most medical insurance policies do cover Fertility treatment, IVF, as well as hysterectomies and vasectomies - once snipped, I don't believe insurance will pay for an undo, though.

Yes, I am glad it is covered.

I am also on the Organ Donor registry. Given my Heart Attack at some point in the past and being a Type II diabetic, I don't know if they'll use my organs or not. I was on the HLA registry, but they removed me after the Angioplasty and Diabetes diagnoses.

I am an ongoing organ donor though - I am an apheresis (platelet) blood donor - I try to give every other week.
I've donated in excess of 100 units of whole blood and platelets.

Do you have siblings?
