Gingrich Accuses Sotomayor of Faking Broken Ankle

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich accused Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor today of faking a broken ankle in order to get sympathy votes during her Senate confirmation.

"She's only wearing that fake cast to help her rack up votes," Mr. Gingrich said. "The minute she's confirmed, she'll whip it off and start dancing a jig."

Does every repug wanna be presidential candidate have to act like Limbaugh?
I always knew Newtwit was strange but his reemergence into the picture just shows how much of an ass he is.

Oh my!!! Just how will the poor poor latina woman defend herself from these wicked accusations. I mean what's next someone will call her a slutty stewardess?

I mean really like there is any chance of her not being confirmed. A hispanic Christian, two groups that have shown really strong support for gay rights as well as abortion rights. Yup I can just see happiness and rainbows for the "gay agenda". Well the up side is that there is pleanty of room on the back of the bus for pro-choice people as the gays have already been thrown under the bus.

I didn't say that they don't, but like I said Hispanic and Christian...two groups that don't exactly have a history of support for our community, nor for a womans right to an abortion.

Do you take issue with any of her previous rulings on the matter, or you are just making an assumption based on race / religion?

Actually I have issue with a few of her rulings, as apparently so did the US Supreme Court. And while she doesn't specifically address abortion per se, her rulings certainly lean towards pro life. As far as race/religion is concerned, yes it is also a consideration. It comes back to why Prop 8 in Calif and how the Hispanic votes played a key role in it's passing. The fact that she religious, while fine, also plays into the belief that she'll end up suprising the left on issues, such as the pro-choice and gay communities.

But again with politics it comes down to numbers as well as "where will you go" theory. Hispanic voting block is the largest growing block in the US, and despite what many think the gay vote doesn't win or loose an election. That's why you're not going to see anything but lukewarm support for gays from Pres. Obama and his administration, or Democrats at all and you won't see and end to DOMA or Don't ask Don't tell.

But hey you go right on waving her flag and jumping up and down for her.

Newt is Good at talking-points but I certainly don't believe he'll ever make a bid for the white house..There's something about him that looks odd and he's not even polling well as a Future candidate..Right now he's flip-flopped but he's the only other well known voice the Repubs have..

His Party still has those fund raisers and they all clap and cheer about McCain & Palin and what they "shoulda,woulda, coulda" accomplished had they won....And it's the SAME old meeting group..A group of Predominantly of White Senior citizens wearing cowboy hats...
