Glee! [merged]

Artie, Mercedes, Mike Chang, Tina, and Sam all need to be written off IMO.

^^In full agreement on all those names. Will can exit stage left too, so useless.

Darren Criss gave a rather boring interview today. I like Darren, but he couldn't be more wrong on Blaine's character development this season. Despite singing in every episode, primary screen time, there has been zero growth. He is still the same impulsive, OTT romantic, emotionally needy, dapper, desirable, straight-passing, excelling teen that he's been all along. It's good to hear that he and Chord Overstreet are bros in real life, but that friendship doesn't translate on screen. Jake & Ryder have the chemistry that Blam should have but just don't, IMO.

@gemini

As I have said before, you can tell that Darren is an okay actor but his character is so terribly written that his talent is wasted there like so many others.

I think I am done with Glee. Last nite's show basically said: "we don't even know WTF were doing with the characters so you shouldn't care either!"

So "All or Nothing" aired and they tried to cram too many storylines into an episode that should have been mainly focused on Regionals. The whole of the first half with Brittany...well that was just a mess wasn't it? Are we honestly still expected to believe that Brittany is one of the smartest people on the planet? Despite this storyline having a lot of time to develop (we found out about this during the week where Sam and Brittany got married), the whole thing just fell flat on its face. I felt sad for Brittany because her little scene with everyone in the choir room telling them about MIT is what Brittany's character should have been like all along. She had her quirky moments but was actually saying some genuine and nice stuff.

Also I really dislike Blaine when he's this needy and clingy. What happened to the time when Blaine was the stronger of the two in the relationship? The whole time they were together I figured if they broke up Blaine would be the adult about it but instead he's pining on and it's getting a little creepy. (And yeah, what happened to Adam? Did they just write him out after two episodes? I liked him better than Blaine...and Kurt.)

Sue's baby daddy was a huge anti-climax. Let's say no more.

Ryder's catfish was finally revealed. Now if you didn't guess it at least three episodes ago then something is wrong because it was REALLY obvious and Glee did nothing to even make this a surprise. What I will say about this storyline is that I hope it doesn't all get sorted in first episode of next season. Ryder was pissed off (understandable) and I really hope he stays pissed off about it next season and doesn't just turn around and be like "Yeah, we need to stick together because we're in Glee club." That's what I'm expecting though.

So Joe and Sugar return after months of absence and no one says anything? Am I the only one that thinks, with a Glee club that promotes itself as being that close, that someone should have at least said "dude, were you ill?" But alas, Glee write characters in and out like crazy, expecting us to believe that it's all just "part of high school".

Some other moments that were incredibly pointless and didn't add anything to the episode;
- Blaine and Kurt's dinner with those randomers
- The line-up for Regionals being changed
- Rachel in NYADA (seriously she did nothing in this episode other than walk into a room and sing.)
- Mr Schu and Emma (Most of what we should of seen with them happened off screen and Glee is getting notorious for having most of the storyline off screen)

Worst glee season finale? I say yes. Nothing new to add, since everything was as predictable as suspected along with inane plots that didn't further the narrative whatsoever, but New Directions winning was an awful outcome. I mean, there was so much suspense with only three groups performing for one. Their setlist wasn't great but the performances for each number was even worse. They didn't even try with that basic choreography. What happened to the Dream theme Will mentioned every two episodes?

I agree. I think Darren does a good job of portraying Blaine "in love" but anything else that has him being very angry or dramatic leaves me side-eyeing him. A lot of charisma as a showman with DC for sure, but ultimately Blaine works better as an accessory to Kurt. Not the other way around.

Seriously. There was nothing in this season finale that makes me wanna continue onward. At this point, I'm not all that interested in what this show does if season 4 is any indication on what we can expect again. I've said this a few times too many but: Worst season ever. Some serious changes need to happen, preferably starting with the writers.

^No. Someone mentioned the season was split into two parts, so 'Nationals' will happen at the end of season five. Which means they'll win it (logically, but, this is Glee after all), and win 'Internationals' or whatever come the series finale in season six.

One of my favorite random pieces of bad writing in the finale was Schue saying at the last minute "due to the threat of late season tornadoes, Indianapolis will not be hosting the regionals." How random and illogical was that? There is always a risk of a midwest tornado in the spring, so now Glee decides events are cancelled weeks ahead LOL. They could have at least said something like 'renovations on the Indy venue ran behind' . :)

It appears, from the 'upfronts' being held now, that the next season itself will split in half. They will take a midseason break while another show takes their time slot, then season 5 will continue into June. So my bet is that the will do nationals and graduation right before the break, and then have a time jump when they come back to the next school year.

^Yeah I'm just reading about this. It looks like the first batch of episodes airing this Fall will focus on the McK side, with Nationals and graduation, then picking back up in NY with the rest for Spring. Among the graduates Artie & Blaine are NY-bound while we maybe saying goodbye to Tina and Sam. Now I've been clamoring for more NY since "The Break Up" but after a 3 month hiatus I'll probably lose interest to even care. I also read a lot of spin from FOX's entrainment president about how "creatively evolving" this past season was and how "core glee fans" really enjoyed it. Let's ignore the steep TV ratings and iTunes sales declines though.

I personally hope they stop focusing on the New York side of things (although it's not likely since Rachel and her Funny Girl audition is still "up in the air") but those characters are just fairly annoying now.

Santana has very little redeeming qualities. She walks into someone's house and goes through their trash and starts digging through their drawers for secrets. She's gone from being a bit of a bitch to just being downright rude.

Kurt, in all fairness, has annoyed me since like half way through series two. I got very bored of his bullying storyline very quickly because I knew how it was going to turn out. Kurt has nothing more to him than the fact that he's gay. Whenever they don't have a "gay centred" storyline for Kurt to be a part of he is just basically shoved to the background. How much have we actually seen of him at NYADA and how much did we actually see him work at Vogue? Unless he's being a big screaming queen he doesn't have his storyline. (Okay part of my reason for hating Kurt is because everyone thought he was this "revolutionary character" when in fact he's just a stereotype like all the other gay guys on TV.)

Rachel. My god where do we start. Despite being the character that actually gets everything she wants but deserves next to none of it, she's just downright irritating. She's lost her sense of independence and is now nothing unless she's got a boy to hang off of and when she's not got a boy she's moaning because she doesn't have a boy. I liked her when she was signing her name with stars because she was going to be a star, not when she was being given NYADA auditions, NYADA showcases, dating every guy around and down to the final three for Funny Girl. She gets so many "once in a lifetime opportunities" and gets every single one of them, are we supposed to actually like a girl that gets everything and then moans that she has nothing?

As for everyone at McKinley? I find myself caring for absolutely none of them anymore. I used to like Sam because, let's face it the dude is hot, but his character is so badly written and given storylines so rarely that I just don't care for him anymore. Also Marley is irritating me because she's one of the blandest characters they have ever had (and that's saying something considering most of them are bland).

Also does anyone actually care about how well Glee do in their sectionals, regionals and nationals performances? Why do they no longer have to practice for these things and instead just throw a set list together the week of the competition? What happened to stories revolving around these competitions, like with Vocal Adrenaline or with Sue stealing the set-list? Why are the competitions now just filler and have absolutely no influence on where the Glee club goes afterwards? I think this problem was brought on by them losing sectionals and then having Blaine and Sam uncover some weird doping scheme going on at Dalton (seriously awful storyline). Since then everyone just figures even if they lose they'll still find some convoluted way to get back into the competition.

Yeah, but he's hot as Hell.

Uh oh, we're gonna have a problem. ;)

True, no one should be able to get away with half the things she does or especially says. But if I had to name an MVP this year it would be Santana. She was the missing piece the NY side needed, before her arrival all Rachel & Kurt talked about was how fabulous they were going to be, Santana came in and added some very much needed comic relief. The scene you cited of her rummaging around their apartment was one of my favorites along with her being convinced Brody was a drug dealer. All the roommate squabbles between the NY trio were what really drew me in, they didn't have to do anything extra because the three played off each other well.

Kurt, in all fairness, has annoyed me since like half way through series two. I got very bored of his bullying storyline very quickly because I knew how it was going to turn out. I agree. I think the writers don't know what to do with Kurt when he's not being bullied and it showed this season. It made no sense for Kurt to be marginalized as much as he was, the biggest offenses was his lack of POV in the Klaine breakup and marriage proposal story lines. Everything has been told exclusively through Blaine's perspective from how sorry he is, how much he loves Kurt, how much he wants to win him back, etc, while Kurt gets throwaway lines about how he's dealing and we're left to piece everything together. Kurt this season has turned me into a fan, sort of like you I couldn't stand him from seasons 1-3, but from the very little we got of him I've enjoyed. We've actually seen more of NYADA thru Kurt then Rachel. He's been to acting classes, dance, was looking for various clubs before deciding on show choir (Adam's Apples). His storyline at Vogue.com is one that I would like to see continue but seems to only happen when SJP is available. Ultimately this NY split didn't benefit Kurt since most of the 10 mins of screen time goes to Rachel with him playing her cheerleading BFF. If there's one thing I'd like to see differently next season is more of Kurt's POV established and a lot less of him playing 2nd to Blaine's immature, needy ass or Rachel's predictable triumphs.

Rachel. My god where do we start. Despite being the character that actually gets everything she wants but deserves next to none of it, she's just downright irritating. Out of the trio, Rachel is the one I care for the least. Everything regarding her various story lines has been anticlimactic. From the pregnancy scare, to winning the winter showcase, to her landing that Funny Girl part (which we know is gonna happen). Everything is handed to her or quickly resolved and I'm just bored.

I guess at mid-season, that will wrap it up for me as a Glee viewer. If Sam is done, I will be done. And no way will I ever watch Rachel and Kurt in NY. That was already FF time on the DVR.

The nice thing is that I have said for the last 2 years there are 2 shows I watch that are horrible but I watch as guilty pleasures driven by one actor--Chord on Glee and Steven McQueen on Vampire Diaries. When they killed him off in Feb, I was finally able to delete it from the DVR. I guess Glee is now soon to depart my DVR.

In news that surprised no one, along with Brittany, last season's recurring graduates have officially been given the boot (Mercedes, Puck, Mike, & Quinn) with the newbies (Ryder, Marley, Jacob, Unique, & Kitty) being promoted to series regulars.

Some recurring casting news about 4 new characters: Ruby (African-American female, McK newbie) Julie (cute & quirky 20-something) Ryan (must sing & play guitar 20-something, female), and Henry (unknown). I assume Ruby will be the new sassy teen, with the other 3 characters for the NYC side. Ryan likely being a new LI for Santana, Julie being a new rival for Rachel for Funny Girl, and Henry being a new potential LI for Rachel/male lead in FG. More casting news that was announced tonight by Ryan Murphy via twitter:

I've never seen Adam act before, can't say I'm total fan of his music either, so don't know what to make of this. By "joining the cast" does that mean he'll be a series regular or just be doing a guest stint for a few episodes? Either way I assume he'll be on the NYC side and have something to do with Kurt's storyline.

Season 5 of glee returns Sept 19th [STRIKE]not the two weeks ahead of schedule like promised months ago[/STRIKE].

So sad about Finn Hudson.
When he was asked what God would say to him when he died (Inside the Actors Studio show), Cory said: Im sorry I havent been there for you but I have a good explanation.

It seemed Cory was wrestling with some demons.

He did just get out of rehab recently I believe. It seems reasonable to assume it was an overdose.
It really sucks I really liked him.
