Glee! [merged]

my least favorite part of the show is when Mr. Schue sings a song....it's the cheesiest part ever....last night's Ice Ice Baby....and for some reason his songs always sound wayyyy more recorded then the other numbers....and his horribly lame dance moves

Last night's episode was great. It had a perfect balance of humor, plot and music... finally.

LoL @ "I'm going to buy you a teeny tiny diaper because your chin looks like a baby's ass."

The only good thing about last night's mess of an episode was the "Physical" video. Rachel's "Bad Reputation" seemed like it was the worst piece of shit Ive ever seen and seemed to last forever. The pilot they showed last summer had the perfect balance. This is just a mess.

Great show last night. I like it when they show Sue with human feelings. The character is such a bitch it gets old. Loved the songs and Mr. Shue was super. The show is terrific.

So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

Mother's Ass did that ever suck.

Ok.. so... nothing but totally unlikable characters.. they're all just lame two-dimensional caricatures, shallow, dull... it's the "here's the sensitive guy... here's the bitchy teacher.... here's the nerd.... here's the quiet unsure-of-herself teacher... here's the dumb cheerleader... here's the fat girl... here's the gay guy who's so gay he looks like a girl... here's the funny immigrant principal"

Then they just burst into song for no reason... their voices are so auto-tuned and Aphex Aural-Excitered that they all sound like they're doing bad Linda Ronstadt impressions.

just picture taking the worst parts of "Saved By The Bell," "Fame," "Gem" and "The Mickey Mouse Club" and then getting a bunch of kids who wish they were Mylie Cyrus to star.

Fuck, if this is what gay people are wasting their time doing, I think I might sign up for an Ex-gay camp.

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

Likewise.

Everyone raved and raved and I finally gave one episode a spin, #1.4 where the football team scores its first win ever. I can't say I was blown away.

I can't even say I felt a breeze through my hair.

The caricatures are what make the show funny to me. I don't take it seriously at all. I like the fact that it's cheesy and gay and it celebrates "the underdog." Those elements give the show a certain charm. That said, I'm often made fun of for my taste in TV shows, so what do I know?

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

I especially didn't get the lesbo cunt who plays the gym teacher... if a real teacher acted like that... randomly calling students names and actually grabbing students and throwing them into lockers while throwing a temper tantrum because someone made fun of her lesbo hair... I don't think the students would all just laugh it off.

I don't know why, of all absurd stuff on that show, that grabbed me the most... it just did.

It was kinda like watching Scrubs but taking out the Zack Braff voice over to put some grounding context to the otherwise inane and absurd stuff going on.

I don't see how it celebrates the underdog at all. Who exactly is the underdog there? They all just seem to be losers in their own way.

I don't mind the cheesiness, I just failed to see the humour which made this thing into everyone's must-see comedy of 2009/2010, including Time magazine. As I recall, their synopsis was that fans of Seinfeld, Arrested Development and The Simpsons would love it.

Beats me how they came to that conclusion. Admittedly I only saw one episode, but it's like a musical 90210 as far as I can tell and a far cry indeed from any of the three aforementioned pieces of genius.

Sounds like you don't like musicals, Jasun.

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

I haven't broken down yet.

No spoilers please.

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

It's basically a nostalgia grab for adults who miss high school. Hence its popularity. It's how these people remember high school, no matter how ridiculous it is.

The magical faggot stereotype Kurt or whatever annoyed me.

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

5 minutes and I had to poke my eardrums out with knitting needles in order to get rid of the pain of Glee.

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

I agree. . .the horrific AutoTuning is what killed the show for me.

Yes, if used properly, then Autotune is a great way to clean up vocals. . .but producers now are using it as a crutch. They're just telling singers to record a single take and to just TRY to hit the notes to save time. They're then going to the PC and jacking AutoTune up to 11 to make everything perfectly in tune.

Completely horrible. I cannot WAIT until people look back at this decade and realize how embarrassing it was that AutoTune made everything so artificial and shitty sounding.

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

I can't wait until we get to look at the next generation and complain about how they're ruining everything.
