Glee! [merged]

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

I'm always amazed at the amount of adult gay men who buy into teen-marketed entertainment.

>>>But I thought, like in most "kids" shows, that the actors were 20 year olds playing high school kids. I think it's so funny to see actors with wrinkles starting around their eyes, talking about their "problems of their youth".....

Not liking Harry Potter is objectively wrong.

LOTR?

"three movies of people walkin' to a fuckin' volcano."

Um, the LOTR movies were epic. Mostly because they took the disjointed verbose books, which were "six half-books of people walking to a volcane", and made it a coherent epic action adventure.

Harry Potter is great for many reasons, not the least of which is it is a solid children's series. Too many people forget this and criticize it for being juvenile. It actually matured with age.

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

I broke down and watched the 1st season, and now I love the show.

Question - What is Auto-Tune? Something that makes the singer sound better?

It's a computer program that puts people who can't sing in tune... well.. in tune.

It can also put them in time, it can fix pronunciation and actually make it sound like people who can't sing CAN sing.

It's how most pop stars today manage to carry it off, sadly.

Love Glee, it's something to look forward to after a shiteous week. :D

I wouldn't call it anything revolutionary though and in all honesty I'm shocked they were invited to be on Oprah.

I mean, really? No wonder the bitch is wrapping up her show.

Actually, Glee is not solely marketed to a teen audience. The show has been often dominated by the adult characters' storylines. Indeed, the pilot's central character was arguably the teacher who advises the glee club. The adult plotlines are one of the reasons the show does well in a variety of demographic groups instead of just the Tweens.

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

It didn't hook me and I love musicals.

I guess I don't really care for cover songs, but I might give it a second chance sometime. I definitely couldn't see what the fuss is all about.

But, I'm sometimes completely out of tune with everyone else. I don't think not watching Seinfeld ever hurt it's ratings, so I don't think I'll be a threat to Glee's popularity either.

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

Well, I downloaded and watched Episodes 1 & 2 from Season 1 today, and I actually quite enjoyed it.

So it wasn't the best written, most dramatic, thrilling, and funny show I've ever seen.. But in all honesty, I'll stick with it, and watch the rest. :-) I enjoyed what I saw, and that's what counts; something about it kept me drawn in and entertained! ..|

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

When a friend suggested this show to me in the first season, I went into Hulu and saw a few minutes of it and thought - NO way! what is he thinking????

Not long before this second season started, I took another look at it, laughed a little and gave it a chance - now, I LOVE IT. You can't take it seriously! Look at it for what it is, silly drama with funky/retro musical numbers thrown in. Sue Sylvester is fucking hysterical! Call it campy, I suppose. I can understand why people hate it - as they burst into song sounding like they're in a recording studio, it just doesn't make much sense. I just see it as a completely mindless hour during a weekday evening I can laugh at and even sing along with, it is PRICELESS.

:-)

Re: So I finally broke down and watched an episode of Glee.

Sue Sylvester is the bitter lesbo bitch, right?

Yeah... I can't find characters like that "hysterical."

But it's got it's fans... so hey... knock yourself out.

YESSSSSSSSSSS Glee is finally back to its old self after those 2 back to back weeks of crap :gogirl:

Its not 100% back because i needed more Sue but it sure is on its way.

Kurt looked hot as a boy and the "Boy Is Mine" number was perfection, i loved it.

"Jesses Girl" was some good stuff too but i think Kurts solo was the highlight; So much emotion, so much power, i felt what he was feeling and i even clapped afterwards lol. The actor could probably use this episode for Emmy consideration.

Pretty good episode tonight. Puck was hilarious. Also, I loved the scenes with Kurt and his dad. Kurt's solo was the highlight of the episode. Ooh, and "The Boy is Mine."

LoL @ Rachel's shitty version of "The Climb" sounding better than Miley's.

This episode was pretty damn funny

"You got more curves than a Nissan commercial"

-"What do boys lips taste like"
-"Dip. For the most part dip, sometimes burgers, sometimes my armpits. "

"So you listen to showtunes, that doesn't mean you're gay, that means you're horrible"

I was mesmerized by Kurt's take on Rose's Turn. He needs to be nominated for an Emmy. The scenes with his father are the best drama in the show.

So, it appears many of us may have been right to suspect that Idina Menzel's character is Rachel's birth mother.

I really can't stand Kurt. His dad is totally supportive of everything he does and hhe's still being a whiny little bitch. Finn's dad died when he was a baby. Kurt should stop being selfish. It would be one thing is his dad had a bad relationship with him, but he doesnt. So Kurt's behavior just doesnt make any sense.

Puck is still kinda hot but w/o the mohawk he is MUCH less hot. It's incredible what a difference that hair makes.

Although I prefer to forget the whole Let's Get Physical episode, I'm loving Glee so much these days. And last night's episode was stunning.

Puck (and others) had so many great lines. Great to see Mercedes get more spotlight. And Kurt was miraculous. I don't know how this show actually gets broadcast, because I don't expect such good things on TV.

If it doesn't make it past another season, it's not because the show is a failure but because the TV viewing audience is full of simpletons. There have been many wonderful shows that couldn't get ratings.

Kurt and his dad - and the creators - deserve kudos for their big scene last night. And how great is it that the emotional core of this show about high schoolers is so often about the connection between a parent and child, instead of only the usual teen dramas?

So Kurt's behavior just doesnt make any sense.

Other than that he's a teenager and not the Buddha.

People often do things that aren't logical, that aren't thoughtful and don't serve them well. And teenagers more than most. They're just figuring this stuff out.

I think that's kind of the point of the show, and fiction in general. :-)

I hope they do "Rent" :)
