Glee! [merged]

^ Yes, I have to agree. It's very uneven this season. I hope it gets back into the groove of things, and develops the characters more along the lines of last season.

Last season we did have plots about fake pregnancies, magic pills and Rachel quitting the club then not, then quitting again... they are sort of trying to give Glee a different kind of flow this time around which I'm ok with. I just want them to "fix Rachel". They sort of ruined her character. Also, a bit less Kurt and a little more everyone else.

I find it odd that they are trying to sell Finn as the school jock yet he never shows any skin, and they refuse to show his chest for some reason even tho we have seen Puck's, Sam's and even Mr. Schue's.

Maybe Cory is not really "in shape"?

Supposedly the Rocky Horror episode is 'abstastic," and we will see the abs of Sam, Schue, and Finn.

I'm guessing we're not going to be seeing any tits in Wild and Untamed Thing.

"I'm just a sweet transvestite, from sensational Transylvania."

For all the good this show has done for the LGBT community, Fox still felt the need to get their dirty little fingers into it and drop the "T" from being uttered in the song.

And I don't know if anyone noticed that they made Mercedes play the part of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Hardly a transvestite, being a woman and all, but I guess that is how they rationalized eliminating "transsexual" from the song. There goes my hopes of seeing the infamous Frank-N-Furter outfit on one of the glee guys...they just stuck Mercedes in the Frank-N-Furter lab coat and put a pearl necklace around her neck.

I don't really have a problem with the change in lyrics, simply because it's what would happen in many high schools if they were even allowed to do Rocky Horror. As far as Mercedes cast as Frank, well, who else would do it? Finn would not appear in the costume, Sam is definitely Rocky, Chris begged to be Riff, Mike can't sing, and Artie fits the role of the nerdy professor (and not because of the wheel chair). The very first person to "play" Frank at the midnight showings in NY was a woman, so why not have Mercedes do it?

We're still talking about Glee doing a tribute to a show with a transvestite, an incestuous couple, and several bisexual couplings. This will introduce Rocky Horror to a whole new generation of viewers. I think that's a good thing.

As far as the change in lyrics goes, I doubt the intention was an attempt at authenticity in portraying a high school version of rocky horror (personally, I would think the "pelvic thrust" would be the first to go).

I am not sure who else would be able to play Frank-N-Furter (I'm quite surprised it wasn't Kurt), but, you must admit, that, when you hear the name Frank-N-Furter, the last person you think of for the part is an overweight african-american woman.

I'm not surprised that it was censored. Mind you, RHPS is a rated R movie and most high school students are under 17. Yah, I questioned Mercedes playing frank-n-furter also. As for Chris and rift-raft, check out 1:40 as to why he got that part...

It's hard for me to think of anyone other than Tim Curry! lol

But other than him, I wouldn't really think of her as the last person to play the role. I think that role opens itself to be almost any sort of person, which is why it really does lend itself well to its cult status.

Re: Favorite Glee Youtube...

Ah god "I Want To Hold Your Hand" was so emotional for me. Grilled Cheesus was my favorite episode of Glee so far.

It's just interesting how one week they talk about scissoring, and the next they censor out heavy petting...

Also, I heard John Stamos was gonna play Frank n Furter, but the network decided against it!

Several bisexual couplings? Name them. If they can't say transvestite, I'm sure there is going to be no bisexuality either.

Because it would make him look gay, and heaven forbid we have any of that. Hence the Rocky in gold boxers rather than gold tight fitting trunks.

Actually, the Rocky in boxers thing I can forgive, since part of the plot of the show is Sam actually wearing a true-to-form Rocky costume, which he deems too revealing, prompting him to ask for gold board shorts.

That's a convenient way out of having the actors feel too gay. Just write it into the script.

I wasn't saying Glee would show the couplings. I was saying that this whole episode is a tribute to a movie that has them. Many Glee watchers might never have seen Rocky Horror, and I would imagine it will have quite a few new converts after this episode.

And they do say "transvestite." They replace "transexual" with "sensational" apparently.

Stamps has played gay before, and bisexual/omnisexual as the emcee in Caberet. He was game to play whatever.

Apparently producers of the show think Glee watchers are the type of juveniles who aren't allowed to go out past midnight to catch the late night double feature picture show. I guess they will have to get permission from their parents to rent the dvd. After which, they will drop dead from shock when they realize the actual movie has gay tendencies.

This show is one of the gayest shows on television, Spiff, so I'm not really seeing a strong foundation for your points, I guess.
