I have no desire to be straight acting, or even straight appearing.

Just because somethings stereotypical doesn't make it untrue or negative.

I love being gay. Why would I want to hide looking "faggy"? It's who I am.

I really wasn't trying to touche base on the whole "straight acting" (what ever that means) thing altho my post indirectly did, eh maybe i was. Just saying i personally have no taste for such things, just me......And over all i completely agree with your reply. If your happy with yourself (and that's the ONLY thing that matters, then what else matters.

For those of you who do not like Glee or do not think you would like it, I would suggest giving it a try. It is actually pretty unique to tv. It can be a little campy at parts but it is actually really cool and catchy..

Last week they did the rocky horror picture show and it was simply awesome fun..

My thing is this.

I'm already over the way the same songs populate the radio over and over and over again.

Why the hell am I going to watch a show that already glamorizing the same damn music? (and not making it sound any better than the original creators of said music).

I didn't think Rocky Horror was played on the radio all the time. What stations are you listening to?

Even still, these are are proven hits and well known tracks. I can't get into that. Making something that's already a hit into a hit (and 90% of the time, not doing it as well as it was originally). What happened to originality?

I could get this kind of thing from any cover band in New York. (Hell, I already get it on the train platforms every day from a more diverse array of musicians). This show blows.

A friend of mine who likes the show tried to get me into it by subjecting me to some of the clips of them covering a few of my favorite tracks and literally 10 seconds into it, I cringed and actually listened to the original versions to wipe away the memories.

I'd compare this nonsense to Kids Bop.

What they do on the show is rather true to actual high school show choirs, which will take contemporary hits, musical selections and old standards, and arrange them to be more dramatic choir pieces.

There are some phenomenal show choir videos on youtube. The Glee kids don't even come close to their real life counterparts as far as size, choreography and costumes. Yet.

It's original in a different way. I don't recall any other shows recently where people sang songs from musicals and pop hits. It could have failed badly, but didn't. I'm not the biggest fan of the show, but I like it's humor and I like the way the songs are filmed.
