I can't believe that phrase has been around for ages. Does anyone else frown with disapproval at this phrase?

I disdain it because it implies that other countries are not worthy of God's blessing.
It's being overused and it's being used by people like G.W. Bush, who should not dare to ask God to bless their anything, because frankly, Bush and his cronies don't know what God is. I am not religious, but I know that some people are not worthy.
I can't believe anyone would "frown with disapproval" over such an innocent phrase. Jeez. What about God Save the Queen? Does that get you all hot and bothered too?I can't believe that phrase has been around for ages. Does anyone else frown with disapproval at this phrase?
I hope you're not serious. Every nation invokes God's mercy on themselves. What you say could apply to the UK, and to each Islamic country as well (with "God willing" following every other sentence, including ones of self interest). It does not connote "superiority" unless you choose it to.The problem with "God Bless America" (beyond the non-existence of any God to do any blessing) is that the way it is used, particularly by the right-wing, is that it implies superiority for America. Almost as if there is a second, unspoken line and that the full phrase is"God Bless America, and Screw Everyone Else"
Beyond that, it also implies God's approval of America and therefore any action which America deems to be in its own best interests. Just pop it on the end of any anti-democratic, war mongering, torture-promoting, despot supporting speech spewed from Bush or Cheney or Rumsfeld or O'Reilly or Limbaugh or Coulter and it just takes the edge off, almost a little distraction at the finale.

How is that? People have been saying "God save the King" and "God Save the Queen" long before anyone ever spoke the workds "God Bless America". History will show many famous speaches throuh time where the speaker has said "God Bless our Troops" or "God Bless our Kingdom, Empire, or Nation".
