Golden Girls no doubt, I loved this show even before I knew what gay or straight was & to this day I continue to watch it & love it. Just one of those shows that doesn't get old for me...The characters are funny as hell, stayed true to their personality's from premier to finale, & their chemistry was awesome I LOVE THEM ALL

And personally, I really think the show laid the foundation for character personalities for Designing Women, Living Single, Girlfriends, Sex & the City, and even Will & Grace...

W&G is funny too & fun to watch, but doesn't come close to my GG's

Golden Girls for me. Was a regular watcher when it came out. and the re-runs as well.
I have a question for all those who know the first episode. I was told in the first episode they had a gay chef. Is this true, I have never seen it and I wondered why they dropped him so quickly - he only lasted for just the one episode.

Golden Girls definitely.

In the first episode, they did have a gay chef. He was dropped so the girls could use the kitchen much more than they would have been able to had he remained

LOL its so funny you mention thins because on lifetime they showed the series finale so they started playing from the beginning again and i did see the gay chef lol he was funny but the next episode i didnt see him.

Now i am sure i have seen every episode :)

Never really liked Will & Grace watched it a few times, but just could not get into it.

Ok. I'll be the odd man here. Everyone seems to favor GG but I never found it entertaining. It got on my nerves and it's not that I didn't give it a chance. I watched 40-50 episodes. I didn't care for Bea Arther's mother's character. Found her annoying. I will have to say that of all the gals I liked Betty White's character the best. On the other hand, I love W&G. Karen's character is hysterical. The show makes me laugh. I liked all the characters.

I heard that they dropped the gay chef because Sophia got such a good reaction from audiences that they decided that just the 4 of them could carry the show & he wasn't really needed...

THEY WERE DAMN RIGHT!!!

I also loved the official 5th Golden Girl...Stan Zbornak; he played off Dorothy really well too

That sucks for the actor palying the gay chef!!! Did he go on to do anything else? I think it was good they dropped him from the show.

LoL...I wish I knew what his name was, but IMDB only list actors that had 2 or more appearances...

How Did i Miss This Thread
yes as i just voted a toss-up both great shows in their own right!!!!

How can you make me choose?!! I love them both, although at the moment I'm watched out of W&G and now addicted to GG.
I feel like Jack and Karen in that episode of W&G where they're looking for the next best show after Sex and the City ended. There's nothing that can replace these classics.

Golden Girls, definitely. There were so many great moments in that show. I found Will and Grace kind of forgettable.

gotta go with the 'Girls. i can count on one hand, the number of W&G eps that held my attention. The Golden Girls is one of those shows you can watch over and over, and never really get tired of it.

Not even close. Which show will still be watched in 50 years? GG of course!

The Golden Girls (much like, in my opinion) is like I Love Lucy: timeless. As the above poster said, fifty years from now it will still hold up well.

I definitely agree with those of you who said Will & Grace was great for the first four years, even though I liked season five as well. After that, Will became more bitter and Grace was more of a buffoon and more... crude. Karen and Jack were actually witty in the earlier seasons. Their jokes and biting insults were very funny. They seemed to turn into clowns as the series progressed.

All in all, I love both shows, though.
