  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Goodbye GAyForIt, JerkYourTube and ItsAll Gay....

eeeeeexactly.

I will never pay for porn. Never.

I am a composer. I write very interesting music. I want to to that all day long. Plenty of people like my music, but nobody enough to buy it. For that reason, I have spent the last four years studying to become an engineer. People cannot build the things they need and want without the help of expert engineers.

That is why I posit, in total opposition to JasunStrikesBack, that nobody deserves to just do what they like (or, what they once thought they liked until they started having to scrabble out a living at it) all day long and get paid. Everybody needs to know how to do a practical thing. Grow crops. Build stuff. Whatever.

Got it.

you're a failed artist who thinks that those of us who DO produce a product that people want shouldn't get paid for it.

See, i'll tell you now that if there was a site that was selling your music but not giving you a cut... you'd be pissed. But since nobody wants your work, you want to punish me.

Got it.

Bitter... party of one.

 @ creating software for the porn industry to protect against copyright infringement. Are they seriously saying "We've made millions from you and if you pay as millions more we'll show you how to stop us."

You have to admit thats pretty ballsy.

I have to tell you that THAT was a very funny exchange. I was there.. and it wasn't pretty.

To the guy with the socialist idea - that's interesting, but the idea of all artists having to be selected by some kind of central (even though you said collective) agency funded by the rich, funded by corporations, etc., would be a recipe for totalitarianism. I'd rather starve under the free market than take party in that experiment. Maybe something like that could happen AFTER the introduction of a revolutionary democratic socialist society has been implemented, but it could definitely not happen in the midst of capitalism.

Jasun - the idea that everyone who downloads / looks at free porn is going to get in trouble is, honestly, laughable. They can't even stop the piracy of music or movies, do you think anyone is going to give a shit about the piracy of pornography? Besides pornographers? Plenty of people probably don't think you even deserve to be making money off of that anyways. One could argue that you're caught up in another industry that is based off of the exploitation of workers. The human libido cannot be controlled, and neither can the internet. People will find a way to see what they want to see without paying a fee.

Okay, maybe I'm being a little dramatic. Point is: I like piracy. A lot.

Who said we're going after people who download? We're going after the people who upload and make it available. The guys who run the blogs, the people who run the pirate tube sites.

What? We pay the performers... very well... who's being exploited?

You realize we don't produce porn as a hobby, right? That we spend a lot of money to produce it and should get paid by the people who use it?

Well then I like your car and i'm going to take it. Who's gonna give a shit about that?

Well.. you.. and I assume you'd come after me if i took your car, right?

Okay, maybe I'm being a little dramatic. Point is: I like piracy. A lot.

So? Why am I supposed to give a shit if you like it or not? The industry is going after the people who allow you to pirate it and I don't care if you can't control your libido or not.

By the way, this isn't the first time this has been done by Corbin..

And good for him and Brian. I'm kinda fed up with people who think they can rip us off and use the excuse that "well, some people think you're exploiting people so you shouldn't make money anyway," especially when they're saying it ON A PORN SITE and probably with one hand down their pants.

Since these guys are based in the UK, can this lawsuit really touch them? I know some people get around copyright infringement by using servers/being based in foreign countries.

That's why I don't suscribe to any porn sites or buy any porn.
I paid to see Levi and that's where it stopped.
My money is better spent on other things.

You joined the worst porn site for the worst photos in history that were available on pretty much every mainstream news blog with no accompanying video?

Man, you got hosed.

Just the name "jerk your tube" was annoying enough.

Ironic that the site owners will now be the ones that need to get off....

The only way to stop the spread of shared Internet porn is to stop making it. Producers are never going to put that cat in the bag. You can come up with all kinds of litigation, laws, threats, software protection, etc., etc., and some computer geek will find a way around it.

In 2000, the music industry cried bloody murder over Napster, the free file sharing craze and accused downloaders of stealing...despite the fact that music sales were simultaneously at an all time high. Ironic how as soon as they began to crack down on it, music sales started going into the toilet. Metallica lost fans when they went on a crusade to stop their music from being shared. No one likes a greedy (multi-millionaire) producer.

Most of what's on JerkYourTube are singular, low quality scenes cut from movies. It usually isn't the whole thing. If I notice several Falcon or Sean Cody movies on jerkyourtube that I like, I'm going to eventually make my way to their official sites to see what else is on their menu. From there, I might join/buy. So why not just consider tube sites free promotion? It's not that different from music being played on the radio.

By and large, people don't like bootlegs and watch them for the sake of seeing if it's worth buying a real copy. If the product is any good, people will still purchase it, just to have a full, top grade version of it. I think what scares these producers is that with the Internet, there's less room to get away with putting out a shitty product.

LOL, this won't even put a dent in the amount of piracy that goes on over the Internet. There are literally thousands of sites (blogs/forums/video hosting sites/etc.) that have become havens for pirated porn and threatening to bring down 3 of them won't do shit in the overall scheme of things. People are still going to find other avenues to download their porn for FREE!! It sure as hell ain't difficult to find.

Oh you're right.

But at least we can go after the people who are actually RESELLING our stuff, right?

Totally agree. As said, the people who want to buy it will buy it. Attacking tube sites will not get you any more customers. It's a hopeless battle as well since more will just come along even if you close these 3 down.

All this will do is give even more press to these sites. I had never heard of any of these sites until now.

And yes, almost all of these tube sites do not have high quality videos like you get when you pay to download them from a pay site. Most of them have small videos that are highly compressed, so it's not like they setup an identical site where they are providing the same thing for free.

I've purchased from several paysites before because I wanted access to all the high quality videos after watching some low quality clips. These tube sites give more exposure for the content to the people who will pay something for porn. The people who won't won't anyway so whether a tube site has your content or not really isn't going to make a difference to them.

Not that you aren't well within your rights to sue if you choose to though, the sites are clearly violating the copyrights of that content, I just think the efficacy of this type of thing is rather dubious.

But at least we can go after the people who are actually RESELLING our stuff, right?

I think some people might not be familiar with the three sites that are the subject of the lawsuite. As Jasun indicates here, these sites are NOT "tube" sites that let users upload videos and earn money on advertising. These three sites let users upload videos and then turn around and charge visitors that want to watch more than one or two videos.

So, for all you comparing this to downloading music, that's a false analogy. This would be the correct one: You set up a website that lets people upload songs they obtained illegally. Then, you charge a fee to let people listen to that music on your website.

Personally i think this is just as dumb of an idea as record labels or the movie industry going after people for copy infringement. but if they want to do it, go for it. i pay for porn here at jub to support jub, but i wouldn't pay for it anywhere else.
