  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Goodbye GAyForIt, JerkYourTube and ItsAll Gay....

Personally i think this is just as dumb of an idea as record labels or the movie industry going after people for copy infringement.

so wait... you think i should be able to just start up a website with pirated movies on it and then charge people to see it... and it would be "dumb" for Sony and Universal and Paramount to sue me for doing that?

I see.

Ok.

I think it's so funny how, when people are faced with losing some of their easiest access to pirated porn, they all start to panic and act like producers going after pirates is a bad thing.

Hey... feel free to take all the pirated stuff you want. We'll make plenty of money suing the people who gave it to you.

Titan has a full-time lawyer on staff... so you know there's big business in going after the pirates.

(I hope you realize I'm not necessarily a doctrinaire socialist. I'm just amusing myself anonymously on the internet like the bitter queer failed artist college student I am.)

You think you're the first loser at the game of life whose jealousy at the success of others makes him lash out on JUB?

Cuz you ain't special, kiddo.

We saw you coming a mile away.

Oh well can't say i've ever used any of them. I can kind of see though why they would sue them as their work is copy(written) but i'm definitely guilty of downloading music illegally in the same way and can't justify that either. I'm still waiting for the price of itunes songs to come down, guess that will never happen. Why do big companies expect to rip off their customers and then not expect them to go look elsewhere for a cheaper/free alternative? Here's a thought, why don' they lower their prices?

I know a certain BT tracker than bans TitanMedia stuff, I'm assuming so they won't get sued out of existence.

Oh please.

You can buy an album for $9.99. You spend more than that on lunch.

You really can't shell out 99 cents for a song you like?

THat's less than you put in a parking meter.

In a few years, I hope to have a job as a civil engineer, making a modest living ensuring public works are constructed well and efficiently, saving materials, labor and perhaps lives.

No you don't.

You're a socialist, remember? You don't believe in people getting paid for the work they do. Shouldn't you have a more respectable socialist job like "janitor" (as you said) and then have your little hobby of being an engineer on the side?

I have my whole life ahead of me, but I like to think, at the moment, the game of life is going rather well for me.

Well you also think you're a socialist so your O for 2.

I don't tend to buy individual songs or the latest chart music either so it does piss me off that an album released well over 20 years ago is for sale at the same price as the latest Lady Gaga LP. I know I can go out to the shops and get that album cheaper but I love itunes and downloading my collections.
All i'm saying is there should be some kind of pricing structure with itunes, maybe even with some porn industry big hitters who could afford it, to entice more business. Unfortunately there is no such thing as loyalty these days though so that's why people flock towards free porn and free music.

Well then you're paying for the convenience. I buy a lot of albums three times... once on iTunes for my iPod... once on CD for the car and once on vinyl for home. But I'm insane.

I direct for Cocksure Men. You can join our site for less than $1 a day.

Soon you'll be able to download individual scenes if you'd like.

I mean, I think it's a good deal.

That is a great idea (joining cocksure for $1 a day and buying albums in duplicate) It's a shame i'm not into cocksure men as I think it is a great deal. I know it is the convenience i'm paying for especially as i'm in Greece and the music I like doesn't tend to get stocked here. Guess i'll have to grin and bear it.

***shrug*** Oh hell, oh well! I'm not a fan of online clip sites at all, so it is what it is.

This will stop nothing..... everybody still downloads music...dont they? What it can do is send the message to tube sites.

But other than that.... waste of time...

But if you look at it they are sending traffic ur way..... but i understand the webmasters point of view.....

there is alot of "Grey" area...

CF has been suing alot of ppl lately.....hahaha

Who they should go after is the hustlers in NYC selling there product on DVD's......set up a sting.....(?) anybody looking to do undercover work? (Donnie Brasco)

I've been to 2 of the 3 sites being sued. (They were referenced in a JUB forum with links.)

I don't understand why anyone would subscribe to them, because, if you play it right, you can watch 14 free videos a day between the two if them. That's potentially more than 3 1/2 hours of porn.

If you can't get off with that much porn, you need a new libido.

I've always presumed they'd get sued out of existence. But I'm sure someone will move in to take their place.

(And by the way, I do subscribe to a multi-site porn site owned by the new owners of JUB.)

So how will this work?
You sue and assumedly win.
Then the three pirate jockey companies just pay of a part of their profits to the suing companies and its business as usual?

Or they go completely bankrupt coughing it up to you and this then scares the shit out of all potential pirates.

Or maybe its something in between these two extreme scenarios?

Guess I'm just curious..

I think the two important things people should keep in their head are

1) Intellectual property is necessary for creativity. Without it, ideas would wither into a null void for fear of them being snatched.

2) Despite the fact that IP holders are (basically) entirely justified in protecting their IP, you cannot stop piracy. I think this course of action in going after the distributors is okay, but people should be careful. This same approach won't work with other mediums such as BitTorrent, where trackers are resilient and in the worst case scenario not even necessary. In the fight against piracy, you have to acknowledge that you cannot stop piracy, you can only protect your own IP by either literal protection or by adaptive business model.

oh darn that was a good site... hopefully, the courts will take a long time and people that pay for the site will keep it up and i can keep getting free stuff

So what you're saying is, you can't do what you love because people will steal it, so do something practical instead?

Your idea of a society is an idiot.
He does have some interesting points in his comment. It's that example I keep repeating:

A construction worker has to work hard every day to earn money. He has to restart building houses from scratch, only to have his work destroyed in some years, because other people decided they need something new.

A musician with a record deal creates and publishes some songs and because of copyright, he and the record label can lean back being lazy and enjoy the money coming in all the time for the next 50 (70?) years.

Is that fair? (without favouring one side now)

Sharing or presenting files or clips for free--whether pirated or not--is a great, free form of advertising. The product gets a far wider exposure and, if it's worthy, a following that will be primed to purchase the product at some market rate.
