  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Goodbye threads

If there's one thing I've found - not just on this board, or on boards in general, but in life - it's that everything was a lot better before. Because it's in the past, and we can look back fondly on the positive things that are gone, and either blur out or ignore completely the negatives from that period. I have people saying the company I work for was so much better three years ago. Three years ago, people were saying precisely the same thing.

Lex

Ding dong - well said - see somethings don't change - Lex is still talking a lot of sense - Noni is winding people up - and others are worrying about stuff FAR too much.

Oh it is good to be back - its as if I have never been away  - can I be excused to go and look at gay porn now please? :D

Yeah, when Antdak and Brandon left, at least we knew they were going because they were together. It was sad not to see them post here, and more so when they deleted their accounts. But at least we knew.

That was a seminal wow moment for me.

For the record, I deleted my account once and I didn't announce it.

And years ago I did make a 'leaving' post and it was for the exact reason of what I posted above. I have nothing to hide or prove on here, so I don't really care. You live and learn, from real life and the internet.
Wait wait, so you find leaving posts annoying.

Then you come back later to say you made your own a long time ago to say you were leaving...

They are different how?

People make those "leaving" threads because they are doing the same thing, leaving, and they want to say goodbye to all the people of JUB. Sometimes they engage in their own goodbye thread, and sometimes their initial post is all they make.

Absolutely, the gay porn has suddenly become much more interesting

Pring! Nice to see you, and still partnered, too. :) Race you to the "big bulge in my undies" thread!

Lex

I will miss some of the jubbers that left

others not so much

but I will not leave JUB.

I've learned to love this place for what it is, and it has enriched my life.

I have made some great friends here, some have left, and others are still here.

The thing is, I get to meet more all the time, and as long as that happens, I'll stay ;)

and then some come back!

Pringle! (*8*)

I didn't "know" them all, but I did enjoy reading some of their posts - I can't believe Ruby and the Pianist are gone :(

New people will come in, but it's never the same. You lose the history and small (or large) conections you have made with folks. It's sad..... really, it is.

Now....back to the eye candy ;)

Wow, a lot can happen while you're out enjoying the day. :rotflmao:

*yawn*

Now we have leaving threads, and threads about the recent trend of leaving threads.

I see what you're going for.

An argument to create more leaving threads.

I'm on to you!

I'd prefer you to be on me, rather than on to me. ;)

No hidden agenda here. I said what I meant in the first post, and that was pretty much all I meant.

I have been a member here since April 2005 and nothing has changed and I do not mean that in a negative way. I remember when I joined the was a huge brew ha ha over two members and people left and there were other people to replace them.

At least two members (if not more I am not sure about the others) who have just left, have done so before and they have come back, I would say that they have done so due to personal reasons, not due to any threads on JUB.

I think you have to keep in mind that this is a message board on the internet, with 100000 + members. People are going to have various opinions on things and they are going to voice them, and you can't expect everyone to play nice.

You just have to take it for what it is.

Now that would be an exodus of biblical proportions.

Get it? Exodus... Bible...?

I crack myself up.

I don't see anything wrong with people creating threads saying they will no longer be active on this site. They obviously feel the need to express that and should be able to do so without nasty responses.
This is the third username I've had here, I never posted a thread saying I was leaving because I just didn't feel the need. But, I didn't leave because I was upset or angry at anyone or anything posted, I just wasn't into being here for awhile. I thnk I knew I'd be back at some point, and am always glad I returned.

:-)

You fell for the home protate exam, too?

Oh, and I dig the siggy! I've been watching Christian und Olli for some time, now. Can't wait for the next episode!

Well, I've just read through all of this.

Ebb and flow, as someone said when I first started up here.

JUB, and everything, is largely what you make of it. If you opt to go elsewhere, for whatever reason, then off you go. I'm not sure you can complain too much about anything if you aren't going to stick around to fix it, though.

At the end of the day, I think that all things are transient - how many of you still live in the same town, or street, that you were born in? People outgrow other people, real and otherwise, and sometimes it's not a case of needing to stop the rot, it's simply a case of needing to move on to other things; dare I say "real" things.

I've racked up 2000-odd posts in 30 months - that's a lot, by comparison to some members, and a drop in the ocean of others' numbers, but I'm still here.

And frankly, I think that's all that counts.

I think that it is obvious that many of us will miss seeing those members posting. We have intergrated with them for quite a long time and they were reasonably prolific posters.

But, excuse me for saying this, there are only 6 names there so it is hardly an exodus, plus they are only going to be missed by the members who post just as frequently.

I have seen no real changes in members' attitudes over the time I have been here and I certainly don't see an increase in negativity.

I no longer post as regularly as I did due to personal problems and lack of free time to be here. Am I missed? I doubt it. Yet if my post count suddenly rocketed into the tens of thousands then I think my absence would be noticed.

We survived the disappearance of Andreus and of belamy so I doubt if the departure of those six members is going to destroy the amusement and enjoyment we get by being here. We will think of them occasionally but this being the Internet I don't really think they will be missed that much by the end of August.

But yes I would have appreciated them leaving a "Goodbye Thread". I mean is it really very polite to disappear with no word or explaination?
