  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Got heckled by some weird lady yesterday

First, LOL @ 'rave'

And, LOL X 1,000 @ unconditional love for anyone who happens to log on to the same website

Unconditional love and going out of your way to snipe others for harmless posts is a world apart. Just simple decency would be a worthwhile standard.

Play the bad boy. Get your jollies. Flame on. It's not like you share your life in any transparency on this forum.

Our OP has the balls to be authentic and vulnerable. Consider that an indictment.

There is no virtue in being authentic as a pretext for just being an dick.

Simple decency? Authentic? :rotflmao:

I think I understand the game now, let's all list some of the terrible, reckless, thoughtless things we've done and it's all ok cuz we're being authentic. :gogirl:

Why, people will say you're in love.

Just people of equal consequence, though. Not to worry.

I actually have a theory on these posters that snipe me every chance they get.

They pretty much never share anything about their lives. And when they do, they are either lies or "jokes".

I've learned over the years of my existence that many people project what they are and how they feel onto others. In other words, they think everybody else is like them. This is why they so often accuse me of fabrication. The few times that they share something about their lives, they're fabrications. So, they believe that everybody else fabricates online.

Remember when I lost a puppy several years ago? I still feel sad about it every time I think back to that pup. *sigh* Anyway, when I posted about it, many of the same people who continue to snipe me to this day accused me of lying about it. What was their reason? Losing a puppy was such a fairy tale that it couldn't have been real. Thinking back about it, I think they couldn't believe it because they could not ever imagine themselves admit online that they failed miserably like that. In other words, they only put positive (probably fabricated) things about themselves. So, they project this line of thinking on someone like me.

That's my theory on the matter anyway. It never really occurred to them that I'm actually a real (authentic) person. And with that comes imperfections.

Although I would worry about leaving my motor running because I would be afraid that the car would get broken into and stolen, with your dog in the car, you didn't have a choice and the dog would probably keep thieves out. Producing air pollution would occur to me, but I wouldn't consider it a big problem considering everything. Maybe it depends on where you live. Although this was not a good situation, I am surprised by the sharp outburst on this thread. I guess I am old and living in another time.

you leave your car running for an hour?--never heard of that---not environmentally sound

Why would you leave your dog in the car while your at the gym? The only time i take my dog on a ride with me if i'm getting food though the drive thru and quickly returning home. Leaving your car running for an hour is probably extra wear and tear on your ac.

My brother left his dog in the car i'm not sure if it was running or not and someone called the police and/or animal control on him i believe he had to pay a fine.

I take him to work with me every day. I let him roam around in my office.

Regarding the wear and tear, let me worry about that. It's company car and they give me a new one every year.

Admittedly I think the person who heckled you had a good reason to, for the same reasons that other people have already presented. They don't have context and there's plenty of reasons to be concerned about the safety of the dog. A sign would be good as would the windshield Rare suggested,

Mention that you check on them between reps because that's also a significant bit of information.

Why in particular do you feel inclined to take your dog to the gym? I could understand if the dog were in the gym but why have them with you if they're just going to be in the car?
I like that you do take several precautions to ensure your dog's safety, not a huge fan of the environmental damage but it's neither a hill worth dying on nor do I think I'd be able to convince you to care, but it does seem like a bit of hassle so I'd imagine there's some reason for doing it.

I check on him while taking breaks between reps.

That's exactly what the mom in the Lifetime [movies for women, by women] movies always say when explaining to the cops how her son ended up in the grasp of some predator. "It was only for a second." That's all it takes. Doesn't matter how many times you check on your dog, only takes a split second for them to croak or for someone to steal your vehicle with the dog in it, maybe use them in a dogfighting ring, torture it for the fuck-all of it or just generally abuse it-- or maybe you have more faith in the character of carjackers than the rest of us. The pollution and potential death of your dog or theft of your dog and/or vehicle cannot conceivably be worth the risk for an hour of something you could do at home anyway. You're not naive, you know what kinda people and conditions are out there so this either comes off as smugly uncaring or willfully ignorant.

Because I take my dog to work everyday. Almost everyday at least. Today, I left him home. He's like my travel companion. I let him roam around my office. I usually take some time off work everyday to go to the gym.

That said, my husband this morning told me the dog is increasingly dependent on me. He follows me around everywhere, even when we're inside the house. He suggested I should probably leave him home from now on. So, I left him home today. I'm sitting in my office right now and I already have separation anxiety LOL.

^ if he is a lab, or part lab he may suffer separation anxiety. It's very common in labs. My mother's lab is fine most of the time but if he's alone more than a few hours he'll start chewing his feet. You might want to watch out for the things in this article.

Keeping an eye on him from work. Yes, sometimes he shows signs of separation anxiety. But nothing too bad.

He's sleeping right now. See that big white dog on the floor?

So you were being both an irresponsible dog owner and car owner, yet it she was "weird" for calling you out?

I would just note that the AC in our car failed a few days ago while we were in it. It got incredibly hot very quickly.

It might be a better idea to find a gym that will let you bring your dog inside?
