Governor is Waiting to Veto Gay Marriage Legislation

Re: Governor Fat Ass is Waiting to Veto Gay Marriage Legislation

Any JUB republicans want to explain Governor Chris Christie vetoing gay marriage in New Jersey? Not only is he going against history and people's civil rights, he's going against his own legislature to do this injustice.

OMG.... the first thing that came to mind when I saw this picture was the "Strangers in the Night" rendition by Frank Sinatra. :help:

Barack can do a lot better than that.....

It’s an example of presenting the topic for discussion along with a bouquet of poison ivy.

After struggling to stay civil in answering morons who think that explaining the mathematics of something demonstrates serious emotional involvement, that was a very refreshing post to encounter.

No. I don’t have a problem with you expressing feelings of disrespect for the man about whom you are complaining; however, you are using a generalized physical characteristic to cast repulsion upon him – rather than limiting your criticism to his behavior~ as pertains more specifically to his capacity as a public servant. It is little different from posting contempt for people of a certain race, age, religion, or sexual preference. [-X

Seriously?

I'm condemning him for being fat AND being a bigot? You're really believe that? Do you really think I'd be making a thread about him if he wasn't an obvious homophobe?

Your explanation fails to address the issue of my concern.

I have edited the title of this thread to remove an element of social stigma that was apparently included as a means to unreasonably denigrate an entire class of individuals separate and apart from the complaint associated with a public figure referenced in the opening post.

You've taken this thread off-topic by talking about a "social stigma" when the main issue never was about fatness. In many circles it is a social stigma to be a homophobe. So, you might as well delete the thread too since it was about a proud homophobe.

(On two posts, a poster on the first page tried to derail the thread only to be laughed at for being more concerned about the "fat ass" remark than a bigot blocking civil rights legislation.)

This is clearly overreaching and two other posters have commented on the silliness of taking issue with being concerned about a bigot's waistline.

Being a gay man is/was a social stigma too. The same can be said for being a homophobe. This is why a moderator shouldn't moderate a thread he is writing in (especially when he's going off-topic himself.)

I see no reason why there should have been intervention by a mod in this thread

That and taking the thread off-topic and then somehow implying that this thread wouldn't be a thread if Christie was thin since I only care about impugning Christie for his robustness, not his beliefs. Yep, I just saw a fatty that I wanted to make fun of when I read that Christie was going to overrule the state's legislature to block gay civil rights.

And that's why Opinterph deleted your pejorative from the thread title and chided you for discussing his weight.

Him being fat has nothing to do with him vetoing gay marriage, or anything else in this thread.

Re: Governor Fat Ass is Waiting to Veto Gay Marriage Legislation

It's puzzling how proactive he is when shooting down legislative items, but how lackadaisical he is when it comes to slimming down or eating less.

Talk to any mental health expert and they will tell you that fat people have mental health issues which is why they eat as much as they do. I wonder what demons Christie is battling.

Here you go painting with that broad brush again. Fat people have mental issues. No, fat people are fat because they eat more than their body needs to maintain homeostasis. It's simple math. More importantly, being morbidly obese may be considered a disease.

Shall we similarly abuse people who suffer from cancer or heart disease who've caused it through their own smoking? Particularly those with whom we disagree?

I've met Christie a couple of times. Yes, he's fat and short. He's also perfectly fine with it. It's his body to with with as he sees fit.

It's fair to take issue with his opposition to the gay marriage legislation. It's not fair to categorize 34% of the American public as having mental health issues predicated on your belief that fat people suffer from them.[-X

the layer of girth around his waist isn't as bad as the one around his brain

Why do you think they eat two or three times what we eat? Why can you put the fork down, but they can't? It isn't always a thyroid problem with them.

Cancer and heart disease aren't caused by negligence; a lot of the times, cancer and heart disease are rooted in what genes parents passed onto their offspring.

Of course Christie's fine. The diets he's gone of recently were done because he likes the taste of salads and running the treadmill. Yep, when people look at him, they think "salad eater."

Re: Governor Fat Ass is Waiting to Veto Gay Marriage Legislation

I was thinking Barrack and Michelle.

Michelle Obama needs to do a "Move Your Body" event in Trenton. Of course, if she promised to get the governor to join her in such an event, you'd be able to sell lots of tickets to that.

The Republican base could use some "teaching" moments and they, the Party and the country would be better for it. Stopping the inevitable to be on the wrong side of history seems to be a Republican trademark and bottom feeding to garner support from society's crazies does nothing to uplift but rather tries to drag us to a fucked up theocracy. When is someone in that Party going to have the balls to get to the top that "shining city on the mountain" and shout, "stop the madness?" The base needs some cold water thrown on them. Let them bolt, form a third party and the rest of us can get on with the business of running the country.

We do need to figure out why we, as a society, are producing so many obese people. Republicans love to make fun of Michelle Obama for her efforts to promote exercise and better eating habits, instead of joining with her and making better health a bipartisan issue.

And afterward they could go share a Heart Attack burger.

Next episode: the challenge, to work off those burger calories!

Kids will say because anything fun except sitting in one place is illegal.

Unless you're rich.

I've sometimes wondered if anyone has ever studied the effects of overcrowding on lab mammals. I have a hunch they get overweight as overcrowding cuts down opportunities to go out and get physical.

^ I imagine so - from what I hear he may have trouble getting re-elected in NJ - which isn't a good start for a Pres. run

as for his girth I guess it's too bad that when he was a young lad in school that someone didn't pull away his turkey sandwich and replace with chicken nuggets ;)

guessing that they actually did

he is a big fella

If all the Republican movers and shakers are doing is making policy decisions based on future possible runs for the presidency and not on what's best for the country that's good reason not to vote for them.

But anyway, extremism in both parties is exaggerated by our antique political process and party apparatus.

There is no place in either party for moderates to congregate. You are then informed you are either left or right - forget that there is no actual liberal or conservative party - and are then required to swallow the choices made for you by the screamers on the fringes who's voice is magnified by the political ability to use the crazy as a means to scare up votes.

If we had more than two parties like everyone else in the western world, it would be easier to force compromises.

As the OP is such a monarchist, he won't need reminding that the vetoing of legislation is not something which would happen in the UK. The last monarch to do it was Queen Anne in 1707 and these days it would be completely out of the question.
