The part I really don't get is why they would let anyone talk to one of the planners, for like ten years. Submit written questions and (maybe) get written answers, okay, but actually talk to someone? Shouldn't be done.

I don't recall the White House Press Corps getting that -- though the White House is claiming they got everything these film people got.

Let me mention this again because it needs repeating:

President Obama was the only candidate in 2008 who advocated for more direct action in Pakistan. He received a lot of flak from other candidates, both Democrat and Republican, for suggesting unilateral strikes and hunting terrorists in Pakistan. His decision to pursue an agenda of aggression in Pakistan is directly responsible for finding and killing Osama bin Laden. Furthermore, the decision was incredibly risky, with huge political implications if Osama bin Laden was not there or if American troops were captured and killed. To belittle this act of leadership as "my dog would have done it" warrants a lack of respect or even a basic understanding of what the hell happened on May 2, 2011.

Obama's willingness to fail here is admirable - I agree - think Jimmy Carter who frankly got unlucky at the incompetence of the armed forces when he tried to get the hostages out - HE (Carter) got the blame

so you're right

don't care for the self patting on the back or making a movie however

a real leader is comfortable with the knowledge that he did the right thing and that people (voters) see it

reminding us - making sure we understand this - is in bad form

That's possible, too. But having seen how Hollywood actors manage to portray SEALs (e.g. the Abyss), I find the other more believable.
