It's really stupid -- some outfit did all the work putting in fiberoptic cable from Tillamook to Portland... almost. It didn't quite get finished, and the group that did it went bankrupt or something. I'd think it would get picked up for cents on the dollar and finished....
Instead we're stuck with microwave relay system that gets messed up by storms (and heat!).
