Halloween: Love It? Hate It?

Scrooge gets a bum rap. Remember, he turns out to be a VERY generous and kind man and employer gaining a reputation of great largesse and munificence. Everyone forgets that.

I used to love Hallowe'en, but now, I am, as with other "occasions" rather indifferent.

True but that was not until Christmas

i loves halloween!!!

the costumes, the fun parties, the decorations, the chocolate, LOL

last year, i dressed in my gladiator costume and greeted trick-or-treaters at the door. it was fun despite having to stay home that night (cuz i had hospital duty at 7am the next day)

I LOVE getting dressed up. I just wish that I lived in a house instead of an apartment so that I could have a kick-ass Haloween party without having to worry about disturbing the neighbors. Looks like someone else is going to have to host the party this year. :(

I love that it lets me be mean to those annoying little kids...

I hate for every other reason though. :grrr:

It just annoys me now.

Except when I get invited to a party. Which is never... :(

shit, i still be goin trick or treating when im an adult! lol....i know, im fucked up..

i love halloween. i try to dress up each year because my friends throw costume parties, and i normally make up my own. (last year i went as dr frankenfurter from rocky horror, complete with a duct tape corset)
but i also celebrate samhain as well, and thats closer to an acual holiday.

but, on the flip side, i work retail, so i have been seeing halloween stuff since june, and been seeing christmas since august...

working retail absolutely kills the holiday spirit because everything is rushed... like in november we will be getting easter stuff...

Halloween is my absolutely favorite holiday. I used to set up my house in all sorts of ways to make it as scary as possible. let me tell you, kids would come from other neighborhoods just to check it out on halloween night. the fact that i live in the middle of the forest really helped the creepy factor; it's VERY dark and spooky just coming down my driveway on a normal day.

Halloween is one of those stupid inventions from the USA which aims to part stupid people from their money...
I kind of agree to a point. It was never really a big deal in the UK until the advent of the mass importation of US TV shows. I mean, we'd always seen it in films, but not in the quantity for it to become influential.

I've always decorated the club for the last 20 years, and I kind of love it, and people dress up.

I wouldn't class people as stupid for enjoying it, but obviously businesses are going to try and capitalise on the event.

What annoys me more than anything else are these days that seem to be made up by the card companies to make extra cash - I mean, where the fuck did 'Grandparent's Day' come from? I'm expecting 'Brother's Day', 'Sister's Day' and 'Second Cousin Twice Removed On My Mother's Side Day' to be created in the next few years!!!.... but that's another thread topic!

A fun Halloween word game............

How many words can you find in Halloween?

I love Halloween. When I was younger, I enjoyed going around for the candy; when my kids were growing up, my ex-wife always hated Halloween. If she had her way, she would have turned off the lights and sat inside "praying" for the evil day to go away (and I'm very serious about that...she was a zealot).

I loved taking my kids around and seeing the delight on their faces. In our neighborhoods, my kids always knew everyone and my son was very outgoing even when he was a little boy. All the neighbors would prepare special treats for him and his sister and it brought them great joy when we would come over---usually before the other kids went out.

Since I came out, I have so enjoyed dressing up and going to Halloween parties. This year I shall put on my old police uniform and go as a cop....but I'm getting my pants cut into short shorts so that it is a bit scandalous!
