Halloween: Love It? Hate It?

My mom goes absolutely apeshit over Hallowe'en. You should see the yard every year; she has all these animatronic (sp?) monsters, a fog machine, a graveyard, decapitated heads, strobe lights... She goes WAY overboard, and everyone loves it. People come from all the way across town to see her yard. I'm going to help her set up this year, and probably dress up to scare the children too.

Scaring children you say...? :-<

I'm there! ..|

It's fun to look at yards like that. The most I see around here is nothing. I'd be lucky to see a jack'o'lantern in any yard. :(

Hahah! I don't really scare CHILDREN; I tend to leave kids under 10 alone. That's just kinda mean.

Yeah, you should see the yard. I'll ask my mom if she has any pictures of the yard from last year, and if she does, I'll post them up tomorrow. I'm definitely going to take some pictures for this year; the yard is always so incredible. ..|

Whether I mean to or not I always scare children under the age of ten... It's no different when dealing with Halloween.

The year before last I was in a really bad mood when some kids knocked on the door. I opened it to say that I didn't have any candy. The light was only on for the pizza delivery guy. I opened my mouth to say something and they all ran away screaming... :(

I know I looked fine because I had some friends cancel some plans to go to the movies and was already dressed to go out in public.

Boy is that a blow to the ego... ](*,)

Ahahaha! That's hilarious. They were probably just being jackasses.

They weren't... It was a group of kids probably about five to 13. A few seconds later a few women came up and tried to scold me. I was still a little shocked by the screaming kids and only one of them noticed.

She told the others to shut up and asked me what happened. I told her that I opened the door and they ran screaming. I still had a dumbfounded look on my face and they believed me. The people in my neighborhood are very nice and understanding. I still want to know what scared them though. I wasn't really that mad after all. More sad than anything else.

That's utterly bizarre... And kinda mean. :(

Isn't it though? :(

Like I said: It's a big blow to the ego.

And I didn't have someone around to tell me that I wasn't a scary beast that causes children to run away screaming in fear of being eaten.

Luckily the pizza came a few minutes later and the delivery guy was kinda cute. Sure made me feel better... Then again food always does...

I started reading this thread and thought, "WTF????"... until I saw it was from LAST year! Talk about bumping a thread! :-)

I like Halloween! In fact, it's one of my most favorite holidays - if you can call it that. It's fun to see the creativity (and often, the lack there of) when people put on their costumes. We were thinking of having a costume party this year, until we got invited tot he neighbor's for their party. Should be fun!
