Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Imo, both parts of "Deathly Hallows" are the greatest installments in the entire HP film series. One of the most amazing times I've had at the movies in a very long time. I'll definitely be back to see it once the hype and the crowds die down.

I really can't gush over how fantastic Part II was enough. They finally got it right and made two movies that were better than the novel it was based on. :D

Overall, I'm satisfied. With the exception of that laughable epilogue, of course. No matter how hard they tried, that scene would come across as cheesy and generic. :##: It seemed like everyone in my theater was laughing for all of the wrong reasons at the sight of a middle-aged, fake pot-bellied Ron. But I'm glad they kept it in anyway. :-) Bad mom wig on Hermione and all.

In the film, I don't remember Mrs. Weasley saying that line as it was written in the book. It sound like they changed it to "GET AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER, BITCH!"

If there is one critique I do have about Part II is that it seemed a little rushed for time, especially for that scene. I think mostly everyone was looking forward to seeing Mrs. Weasley get her big moment of triumph over Bellatrix but the film kind of treated that entire moment like an afterthought and switched gears right back to Harry.

But I will say that Bellatrix's death scene was so much cooler than Voldy's. ;) Not only did Mrs. Weasley hit her with a Killing Curse but she also completely blew her apart! (*S*) That alone, I have to see again. :D

No one on the good side hit anyone with a killing curse, she used reducto just like everyone else, a killing curse does not deflate a person.

I know it doesn't. But it looked like she hit Bellatrix with two different curses. First with the killing curse and then with the reductor curse. Maybe the first spell wasn’t Avada Kedavra. :? Mrs. Weasley I guess just stunned Bellatrix and then blew her the eff apart. :-)

I could have sworn though that I saw a flash of green light first before Ms. Weasley really blew her to smithereens.

But granted, it was after midnight and I had been at work all that Thursday. My mind probably at that time was off somewhere on vacation. It’s a wonder I remember seeing the movie at all. lol

It was funny how they played with the entire Neville issue of killing the snake. It was almost like will he be the one or will it be someone else. Because in the book Harry told him directly about killing the snake. I wish they would have put the torture scene of Neville in there aswell.

Just back from the movie.
I have 293801983901 complaints.
The book was 21039129031290 times better.
They left out 203912 scenes.

But I loved it.
Cried, laughed, bah, lmy childhood is just over.
HP seriously has had one of the biggest influences of my life. Read the 1st when I was 7, I bought and completely read each of the last 3 books on the day they were released, re-read each one dozens of times, played all the games (all the early ones at least) over and over, know all the characters, got 197/200 in the sporcle quiz :P Made up books about HP, wrote stories influenced by it, grew up being the same age, experiencing the same morals and choices to a lesser extent.
Gah I'm ranting.
So sad it's over.

Thank you JK Rowling, my life would be so different without it.

Sorry to those who think this is melodramatic, believe me, it's not.

This x1000%. Harry Potter was such a huge part of my childhood. I am eternally grateful to JK for giving us such a wonderful series of books.

After all this time? Always.

Snape is one of my favorite characters. I feel the movie did him justice.

No, just no. No matter how good the movies are, they can never be better than the books.

Saw it a couple of hours ago...I was the only one in the group that Freaking LOVED it...

During one of the Flash-backs I thought we'd find out who Harry's real Daddy was..Very interesting scene...

The movie is worth a 2nd trip to the theatre...Job well done...

!oops! I have a naive question.

I haven't read any of the books and have only seen bits of the films on TV. I like some of the actors but haven't really paid attention to the plots.

Can I ask if one of the films is actually better than the others? Or should I sit through the 14 hours from the beginning?

You've ONLY seen bits and pieces on TV (of all places)? Are you serious? You shouldnt go around telling people that. Keep that to yourself.....

I see your question and I'm gonna throw another one back @ you.....Did you think watching the entire "Lord of the Rings" trilogy was worth it? If so, then I suggest you watch all 14hrs of 4-eyes...

TRIVIA: What are the deadly hallows? They were defined in Deadly Hallows Part I.

This is a review I found online. I thought it described the movie perfectly.

I thought Voldemort's death fell flat. He dies and it's like nothing happened. I like to contrast it to The Return of King where you could really feel the weight of the world on Frodo's shoulders. When he finally destroys the ring their is a deep feeling of satisfaction.

But overall I really enjoyed the film. Hated #6 and #7p1 so this kinda redeems the series for me.

9/10

I know right? Nobody is rushing to him or anything. They're instead just having casual conversation. It would have been nice if someone would have yelled "MY GOD! YOU F**** DID IT HARRY POTTER!!!" XD Not exactly that, but something similar.

With the exception that everyone cheered and celebrated, his death was also flat in the book.

But I don't mind that everyone in the movie had a subdued reaction to Voldemort's demise. After all they've been through and all of the people they lost on the good side during the battle, I imagine that they would naturally feel tired and numb. You can still sense that they were relieved that their decade of terror was finally over but it came at a staggering cost.

I'm glad they played that down. His death didn't need to be this big extravaganza. That scene needed to be a reflection of everything that was lost in the meantime. It made more of an emotional impact on me that way.

I agree, Moe. Fiennes could very easily have gone over the top and played V's demise as gradiose, but in the end, his death visually fit what has been happening for him over the course of the two films--he simply unravels.

Imagine your best friends and even family members had just died moments before after an exhausting night of fighting. Imagine that you yourself had to kill people during that fight, having never perhaps even fought another person. Would you really have the energy and joy to cheer after such an evening?

I think the film captures it perfectly. Magic has its price and winning isn't always a celebration. The quiet relief while mourning or recounting the evening's activities makes far more sense in the real world.

Saw it yesterday, it was awesome! Even my mum, who has had trouble keeping up with the last couple of Harry Potter films, loved it and ranked it as good as the first (her favourite).

It's a bit of a shame they couldn't fit in Dumbledore's back story but there's always the DVD for that.

Alan Rickman knocked it out of the park. I got very watery eyed when he visited the Potters. It was so sad.

Yeah, that's true; that's what I figured. But I still can't help but think it felt a little anti-climactic.

Personally, I liked Order of the Phoenix the best. Imelda Staunton is brilliant.

Deathly Hallows part 2 was a lot better than part 1 which was boring. It was also awesome in Real D 3D.

I thought. . .

Whoa dude, watch the spoilers or at least learn to give a spoiler notice. Not everyone has read the book, or has already seen it. I just came here to see how well people liked to to help me decide if I should see it.

Now the mods need to change the subject to include "SPOILERS".
