  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Has anyone noticed that more and more KFC's are closing . . . WHY?

I don't care for fake chicken, so if it closed in my neighborhood i'd dance a jig of glee in the lot.

I think Yum Brands (KFC-Taco Bell-Pizza Hut) in general is having a hard time in the US. Also, as people have said, the health factor is a concern for some. Their price structure seems incongruent with the economy as well. Out of the three, I think Taco Bell is Yum's only jewel right now.

And, as someone stated, Popeye's IS better.

The KFC's here are doing well. They appear to be really busy. However, Popeye's closed down a few years ago.

That's because Chick-fil-A is stealing their customers!

:p

OMG you never lied! I tried them out last week and absolutely am in love with them! Besides I never cared for that racist colonel to begin with!!

I like KFC. I was just curious to know if some of your local KFCs are closing down in your neighborhoods here in the U.S.A.? I used to have one about 2 blocks from my house, and it closed down a month ago. The one that was located about 2 miles from my house (in one direction), closed down about a month ago also. The next closest one near my house (2 miles away in another direction) is still open when I drove past it yesterday. :gogirl: One thing for sure, both locations near me always seemed to be doing good business anytime I went to them and drove by them, so I wonder what happened, that those 2 locations closed. Just curious to know if KFCs are closing down in your neighborhood? “Where can a guy get em a 2 piece and a biscuit?"

I like Boston Market or Popeye's chicken better tho.

Thanks guys! ..| I greatly appreciate your great answers and feedback on my question. Since I don’t eat at KFC all that often, however I do welcome it as a nice change every once in awhile. So now, I will drive 2 miles in the other direction to feed my KFC cravings. I know that I could fry the chicken myself, since KFC is more pricier than fixing the same meal at home, however I don’t want to deal with the time and cleanup of frying chicken. I hate cleaning all of that oil off my stove and floor, I hate washing greasy frying pans, and then you have to figure how you are going to store the used oil. UGH! #-o So I don’t mind spending the extra for the chicken, since I only eat there about once every 3 months or so . . . yet in between my KFC visits, I eat fried chicken at other smaller chain fast food restaurants in my neighborhood (for the taste variety of the chicken). Yet I know I am lazy, but it was nice having that KFC just 2 blocks from my house.

In regards to Popeye’s, I think their chicken and biscuits are too greasy, BUT, I LOVE their red beans & rice! Those are the best red beans & rice I have ever tasted!

Since I can only speak for the U.S.A., since we have them or use to have them all over the place, that is why I directed my question to the guys who live in the states, since I know that fast food is not very popular in other countries as it is here, so I figured that there would not be any density of KFCs in any one country.

We don’t have Bojangles here in Los Angeles, yet I have heard of them.

JayQueer, thank you for the location listing. I like Chick-fil-A , but the closest one to me is about a 25 minute drive away, in downtown Los Angeles. :( However, Chick-fil-A does not actually have whole pieces of chicken, all they have are patties, nuggets, and strip items.

I loved the Patton Oswalt video. LOL!!!

It is not just KFC. Many restaurants have closed. People are eating out less and revenues are down. They have to close poorly performing locations and focus on ones doing well. We have too many restaurants and it was expected that there would be less of them.

Some chains are still doing quite well and are expanding: Chipolte Mexican Grill, In-N-Out Burger, BJ Brewhouse, etc.

For all of you guys not into KFC, just where could you get this DELICIOUS morsel of food below? YUM!!!

OMG! That pile just made me throw up.

Besides no frontal nudity in the Hot Topics forum (per JUB's code of conduct). Such grease ladened image should be banned as well. It really belongs to the fetish forum

People can always find a way to obtain unhealthy food or to make healthy food unhealthy. They'll just add seven to ten tablespoons of salad dressing to their salad from the salad bar or go to the nearest convenience store or market for their junk food. I'd imagine that at least 50% of the merchandise sold in the market in my area should not ever be consumed. I can't even find a package of raw seeds at the market but there is certainly an abundance of salted, roasted, processed seeds available.

True but the fact that they're eating a salad no matter how overdressed it is instead of the bunless chicken sandwich is a good start.

The only KFC near me always has a line.

It's does seem to me that UK based Yum brands doesn't understand the American market.

Thanks again guys, for your GREAT feedback, fun & serious comments on my question. It is much appreciated. ..|

Have a great weekend, Guys! ;)
