Has JUB Lost the Plot?

JUB is a "gay entertainment" site. Okay. But it's been quite a while since I found it particularly entertaining. There were times in the past when clever things that people said made me roar with laughter. It's been ages since that happened.

And I agree that there's something unhappy about those who seek the attention of the intangible masses here on the computer. It's evidently a vicious circle--they don't have friends, so they go for unreal cyberfriends, and then they spend so much time here that they don't have the opportunity to make friends.

So many who did that in the past are no longer with us. Like a shooting star, they had their moment of glory, blazing across the JUB threads with a fiery train of awed admirers, only to burn out and disappear when they realized the futility of it all.

I prefer people with a "take it or leave it" approach, who post clever or deep or real or intellectual or hilarious things now and then. You guys are the ones I keep coming back for, and I wish there were a lot more of you.

JUB had a plot?
Once upon a time, in the Land of Porn, there lived two boys named JD and Seth. One afternoon, a kindly old man whispered in their ears and said "Hey, I'm horny. Can you tell me where to go to get off?" The two boys looked at each other with wide eyes and said, "Why yes, we'll start a place called LMAO."

As the seasons changed, LMAO-Land became overpopulated, and the two boys decided it was time to put on their suits of armor and conquer the neighboring lands. Using the proverbial Sword of Horniness, they conquered all of Porn Land and named their new kingdom "JUB".

And we all lived happily ever after.

not really.

Healing can happen in many ways.

And honestly,

I've been touched by a lot of the people on here....

Andrues and Riverrick spring to mind, but many of the people here have said things that really supported me in times I need them

and also, this a great way for people who aren't comfortable with other gay people or culture to learn who we are and start to soicalize

Believe it.

I've seen some nasty things said to people here and yes, it's hurt their feelings deeply. But ya know? Shit happens. I suppose you'll find nastiness anywhere you go ;)

Don't get me wrong. I've seen lots of arguments here. Just nothing that would make someone cry. Make someone mad? Yes. Cry? No.

Well, it happens. I personally was fucked up for 3 days over something someone said to me when I first started coming around here. I considered not coming back.

So yeah, people can get their feelings hurt.

1 -2 years ago, I loved coming to JUB website as there seemed to be a great 'Gay' community passion for involvement and Synergy around the world!

I look across all the 'JUB' forums today and it seems that JUB is just a quick link to paid sites!

I'm confused about what you want. Do you want the links to pay sites removed? That ain't gonna happen -- that's how the bills get paid.

Or do you think that threads should be monitored and deleted if they don't conform to somebody's idea of what this site should be? Horrors -- I'd be the first one out the door if that happened.

Or do you just find a lot of threads that don't interest you? Yeah -- so do I. But I've learned to spot them and not go there.

The only thing I'm getting a little tired of is when people give their thread a title like "I'd like your opinion on this". As often as not I get suckered into clicking on it and it turns out to be something earthshaking like "Which TV stars do you think are secretly gay" or "Are big dicks really better than small ones?".

Is it too much to ask that people say what the thread is really about in the title?

yes JUB has lost the plot.

Lots of reasons why....
Congratulating someone for having no life that they can make 1000 posts a day is considered fun.
The moderators seem to think its their job to control what can be discussed.
So many members are more concerned with appearing nice and pc than being real and enjoying themselves.
Too many threads with the word Elvin in the title.
Too few members have a personality or a mind of their own.

It's up to you [especially if you're complaining] to make JUB a richer fabric than it is.
Go ahead. No one's stopping you!!

JUB would become even more tiresome than it already is if people replied with "My thoughts and prayers are with you (*8*) (*8*) (*8*) " to every thread in which somebody is having problems. I always feel that a PM is better than hawking your mawkish sentimentality on a forum on a gay porn site.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with you

As for the no flame zone, I have yet to see any practical advice be given there anyway.

Sorry that you are disillusioned with a website, my thoughts and prayers are with you (*8*) (*8*) (*8*)
Use the boards for what you see fit,but let others use it as they best see it.The no flame zone has helped a good number of people, your perception of it means something only to you.My thoughts and prayers with you, that you don't need a visit from Marley's ghost and the Ghosts of Christmas Past,Present, and Yet to Come someday to appreciate the need for others to seek compassion, understanding, and support.(*8*) (*8*) (*8*)

I've talked to Jubbers who have literally cried over things that were said to them right here on this board.

If that is really true, then it would seem that it is not only JUB that has lost the plot....

Bonzer!!

I say...stop complaining and be more proactive....Complaining and bitching doesn't solve anything.
This place is supposed to be fun...
Let's just not make fun of disabled people...or attack anybody.

I hate to bring all this up again, but you seem to want to keep reminding us. This is a forum. We can have fun here, but it's not all about fun. There is no rule anywhere that says we're supposed to have fun.

It's a forum for like-minded people to gather and discuss things pertinent to themselves and others. That includes more serious topics and it also includes fun and whimsy. But it also includes some very serious topics where very real people with very real problems are having very real difficulties coping with life.

But, it's only the popular people who get the attention. Everyone else is virtually ignored except by those who really give a damn about other people. Their cries for help are buried in a pile of crap posts where people are supposedly having fun. But only a few people are having fun at everyone else's expense.

It disturbs me that a nonsense thread can drag on for days and days while someone's battle for their very life disappears within hours through neglect.

I'm not saying you can't have fun. I like to have fun just as much as anyone else. But JUB isn't all about fun. It's about life and it's about being gay, and being alive and being gay isn't always fun.

Yes, but serious threads take more time, energy, and thought to respond to. Nonsense threads can be responded to and read within a minute, which contributes to why they thrive for so long.

And there's a section for the more serious and help-seeking threads and those can last a long, long time.

JUB is about interacting and part of that is interacting in a carefree zone and interacting in a more serious aspect when topics of importance or personalc risis or advice are made.

But people who just troll and act condescendingly or bitch and moan about how stupid a topic is aren't doing either. They're just out to not enjoy themselves, it seems.
