I haven't heard of that since I was in college. I really can't drink more than 3 drinks in an hour. I'm a pretty small guy.
 
I once fell asleep with my head leaning on my elbow on the bar. When I woke up, the bartender told me that I was cut off. I was more tired than buzzed, but whatever!

I would imagine that it was the perception of how drunk he was and not just the amount consumed.

If you were able to drink that much and were still relatively sober I'm sure you could continue.
 
Yes, many times while at college. So much so, that when I went to the first homecoming after I had graduated, three of the bars I frequented while a student did not even let me in their doors. The bouncers had been warned about me. Whoops...

Me? I can't handle alcohol very well. More than one drink an hour and I turn bright red and get tipsy! Kevbo would destroy me in eighteen seconds.
 
Try, cut off, thrown out....and ask via a phone call from the owner of the club to never return.lol Ahhh, to be young again.lol
