  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Have you ever received or given Flowers to another Guy? Tell us what your Favorite Flower is.

Yes, the standard dozen red roses, twice - to the same guy. Actually, the 1st time it was thirteen. I brought them to him in person, and I thought a dozen was too much of a romantic standard; although I was a little sweet on him, the biggest reason I brought him flowers was because he'd said no-one had ever given him flowers before, and he thought he'd really like it. The second time I had a dozen flowers delivered to him on the anniversary of our court date. Really, it was just my sense of humor, but I guess he felt like it was a violation of the restraining order. I got a call from the police about it, and was told to not ever do that again.

My favorite flower, Night-blooming cereus, won't work in a bouquet - it opens for one night, and fades in the morning, but the fragrance is out of this world.

Jesus, someone can't take a joke.

I don't have a favorite flower, but ones I do not like are plain ones like daisies or sunflowers.

Maybe I like these the best: Cala Lilly

I see what you did there...

* very feminine flower to give for men^^

Those leaves have no business in that vase with the lysianthus, and you never ever put a bunch of flowers in a vase with the elastics still around them, especially if the vase is glass.

any aliens passin giv ya planet earth

Yes.....several times actually - one of my ex's is a botany freak. And I love hydrangeas.

Given, but never received. My favorite is the iris, preferably purple. I also have a soft spot for morning glory.

I have received a plant from a guy before [It was extremely thoughtful too. He gave me an aloe plant during the summer for when I got a massive sunburn.] but never flowers. I have expressed my distaste for gifts such as flowers, chocolates and cards outside of thank yous.

You think you can decrease my horniness level with FLOWERS? If you tickle my scrotum with them as you suck me off, maybe.

Hm. (jots that down for potential hookup activity)

What about this?

Cala lily- whoever said that has a good taste.. ..|

* If Lex hate stargazer lily, Im not a fan of daisies- especially the yellow one. Gerbera daisy and that "mum" flower you often see at grocery, I just dont like the shape.

and I heard men likes jasmine scent- heard somewhere..so it's not surprising if some of you like gardenia too ^^ (highly scented flower)

You lie about knowing nothing about flowers :grrr:

[...]

When someone celebrates a birthday, an anniversary, the life of a loved one who has died, or a triumph in performance or career, or a new apartment/home, flowers have the ability to speak in a way that few other gifts can.

They bespeak the extension of shared joy, of the ephemeral nature of life and love, and of the awareness of living in the moment.

Do NOT speak to me of waste, especially of something so worthless as money. LIVES are what we share and the richness of that is priceless. [...]

Ditto...
What will last forever? The unique thought and feeling associated with receiving/sending flowers for a special occasion, or the couple bucks it cost?

IMO giving flower is a beautiful and romantic gesture. If a person is worth it money and pride should'nt be a problem. Watching them smile from the heart is very rewarding.

[insert joke about "his rosebud"]

i dont have a favourite flower, but i do love recieving them, as long as theyre cut. actual plants always die instantly in my care and then i feel irritated.

^You could try this plant, needing almost no care at all :p you just have to hang it somewhere and forget about it.

P.S. It is a real plant, don't be deceived.

Fuck me! Ya learn something new every day! Towering Live Oaks full of Spanish Moss are an overriding characteristic of the landscape here in Tallahassee - but I never knew that spanish moss wasn't really a moss at all, but a bromeliad.

The spanish moss, uh... bathing suit? looks like chigger hell to me. I've heard, that when collecting spanish moss (for decor or what-have-you) that it's better to remove it from the tree directly rather than picking it up off the ground if you want to avoid the redbugs.

Yes, I always gave my husband Rubrum Lilies on his birthday. My favorite is Gardina

I can't remember the name of the flower or I don't know if I know it, but I used to work at a fancy catering place with expensive center pieces and my favorite flower was similar to a gladiola.
