  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Have you ever walked out of the cinema half way through the movie ?

My bf and I walked out of the original "Footloose" and "Of Unknown Origin" when it was revealed that the entity haunting this man's house was a rat.

A friend of ours who was dying of AIDS by that time, chose the movie to see one night.....

And when we went out for a bite afterwards it came out that each of us had thought it was the worst movie we'd seen and wanted to leave....but we hadn't siad anything because we thought the other two didn't find it that awful.

Thomas said that the thing he resented the most was pissing away precious time with so little left.

If I had seen Citizen Kane in a theatre, I would have walked out, but I was at home watching it on TV, so I changed the channel.

On the lighter side, I just recalled the night I invited a friend of mine who was in college to come to my place to watch the original version of 'The Haunting'. I had to walk him home. Scared the crap out of him.

omg.

We went to the 1999 version.

On the way out, I asked if they would just refund the 2 hours of my life I had just spent.

^ If you haven't seen the 1963 Robert Wise version, make a point to do so.

There was discussion in another thread about horror movies which hold back showing the nemesis until later in the movie or even waiting until the end. The original version of The Haunting took that to the extreme by not showing a single ghost. That is precisely why I didn't watch the new versions. As soon as I saw the ghosts in the trailers, I knew it would be a bad movie.

I've walked out of 2 movies.

The first (I don't remember the name) was where a chef was actually cooking a person for a banquet of some type. I found it revolting and disgusting.

The second was IMAX 3D Galapagos -- my brain literally couldn't handle it - complete sensory overload.

Both times, I received a refund.

I ran out of Pet Cemetery. Something about dead children resurrecting freaks me right out.

^Do you mean 'The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover'?

Five Easy Pieces. Saw it with friends in a Drive In (remember those). Boring as hell.

Oh Lucky Man. Ridiculous and Stupid.

Babel. With Brad Pitt. Complete disconnected nonsense. I had this one on a DVD...turned it off.

Just to note...The Haunting of Hill House also based on the Shirley Jackson book, released last year on Netflix, is literally one of the best things I have ever seen. If you have Netflix, you must watch this.

Agreed...the 1999 version sucked.

I have. I've been trying to think of the name of movie. But I haven't remember it yet or what the movie was about. It must have been pretty bad. Because I did sit all the through Can't Stop The Music with The Village People. And that was a really really bad movie.

I struggled through a bit of the movie on TV (I had something of a crush on Malcolm after seeing him in 'A Clockwork Orange') but finally gave up and turned it off when he got to the church.

When I was at college our recreation facilities were in an old mansion house in the grounds.
A bunch of us watched Hitchcock's The Birds on TV one night
On the walk back to our dorms the wind got up and the trees shook
We ran back

I tried it on Netflix and lasted about 20 mins

I don't go to many movies...maybe 2 or 3 a year. There are no theaters that have afternoon low cost movie times in this part of the State. So I don't go to movies unless it is a movie I can't wait to see from the Redbox rental machine.

Back in the early 1980's I was able to go to the movie theater for free. But i still never walked out on a movie. I would just eat more popcorn and soda. :D

Uzak and The Station Agent, both dreadful arthouse movies.
I loved The Station Agent. Thought Peter Dinklage was to totally charming--I'm happy to see he's now a star. Everything about the movie was charming--very down-to-earth slice of rural American life, affectionately portrayed.
