HBO's Game of Thrones. ( No Book Spoilers Allowed -- Go to Hell.)

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

As a fan of the books, I knew what was coming...But damn it all if I didn't squeal like a giddy schoolgirl when everything went down.

Gotta love how nobody wanted to help to the King.

Lena Headey did a good job too this episode and not her usually eyes and lips emoting.

The only other big climatic event coming up I believe is the battle at the Wall which has been building for a long time. I can't really tell too much on the pacing betwixt the books and the show to see how far they get, but I do have a strong inclination of the finale of this season.

I just wish Joffrey had suffered more. It was too quick. He should have lingered for days

All hatred aside I thought the acting in that final scene was terrific. Joffrey in all his mean glory, Sansa's face as she follows the humiliation, and Tyrion trying his best not to get his head chopped off but ultimately refusing to kneel, Margaery's shame, Cercei's happiness in her son and then horror at his death, and all the faces looking on in shame and embarrassment. A truly stunning scene and so satisfying.

As I keep telling other "fans", this is not a casual viewing show. There is a lot going on and may require a few viewings to understand what is truly going on. Hell even reading the books, I had to take notes to remember what I read. Reckon that is more about the style of writing where one character's PoV may not pop up got 100 pages and you'd forget about what just happened.

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

I found it interesting that when Joffrey was dying the former knight whose life was saved by Sansa on Joffrey's name day was there to help her escape. Doesn't seem like a coincidence to me. I have never read any of the books, but that stuck out to me. Also, Sansa was the one who handed Tyrion the cup that was kicked underneath the table.

The Prince continues to get me hot. The way he let Tywin and Cersi have it was pretty bad ass. I loved the way Loras stuck it to Jaime and left him standing there like fool.

Game of Thrones

If anything is evidence of the decline and fall of forums for discussion on JUB, it must be that Game of Thrones doesn't even appear to register on the current Entertainment board.

And after the 2nd episode of this season.....

sigh.

Re: Game of Thrones

It is one of the best things to ever be on television.

Re: Game of Thrones

I don't have Sky, so I can't watch it either. There's enough stuff on the channels I do have which passes me by without worrying about missing even more.

Don't despair too much Rareboy, you just overlooked it. :-) Here 'tis, some 40 posts or so in the last month.

That is funny. I'm not reading the books until I watch the series and my sister is not watching the series until she's read the books.

She has said the same thing about taking notes. I find it easier because of character recognition on the show....but I have had to go back one or two times to sort out the inter-relationships...this season I find it all much easier though.

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

That last episode was glorious, as others have said even with reading the books seeing Joff's end was great!

I think you could be right, but they have said there will be parts of AFfC and DwD in this series so you never know. One thing I am really interested in is that they have said there will be changes to Tywin and Ayra plot lines, which could be cool if they do something good with it!

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

is Oberyn Martell gay

In the books both Tyrion and Jamie mention rumors of him liking boys, but he is bi. He has a female lover and a number of daughters who you can look forward to meeting.

Re: Game of Thrones

Ah yes, thanks.

It is a delight to have it back.

Richly textured....gorgeously produced and brilliantly acted.
