HBO's new show "Looking" starring Jonathan Groff

4 days until the new season. I just started the 1st season again this evening, it will give me time to refresh the memories so I can be ready for what comes on Sunday :D

I did that last weekend and enjoyed it more the second time around.

'Looking's' Scott Bakula: In Season 2, Lynn and Dom have 'advanced' their relationship

"Looking" fans were a little worried that Scott Bakula booking "NCIS: New Orleans" at CBS would mean he couldn't be a part of the HBO dramedy's second season. However, both shows made it work, for which Bakula tells Zap2it he is immensely grateful.

"In September and half of October ... I shot in New Orleans until 2 or 3 in the morning on Saturdays and went straight to the airport and shot in San Francisco until 2 or 3 in the morning on Sundays. A couple of those ran me ragged," Bakula says with a laugh. "But it worked out, everybody made it work in both camps, and I really appreciated it."

Bakula also teases that while he can't reveal too much about Season 2, fans can look forward to his character of Lynn and Lynn's partner Dom (Murray Bartlett) having taken their relationship to the next level from where they left off in Season 1.

"Our relationship has definitely advanced from when you last saw us in the end of the first season," says Bakula. "They've crossed into a different kind of relationship, clearly a physical and ... not co-habitating, but with a definite comfort. They've tried to take the work aspect out of it, and we're certainly enjoying each other's company."

Like any relationship, though, it isn't purely smooth sailing. In Lynn and Dom's case, most of the conflict comes from the fact that there is an age difference and they are in different stages of their lives.

"We have a situation where I'm in a different place in my life than he is, so that continues to create issues of what people want at different times in their lives and what their levels of commitment and acceptance can be," says Bakula. "We're exploring all that good relationship stuff, it's pretty interesting. Lot of heart."

"Looking" returns Sunday, Jan. 11 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.

Season 2, episode 1 and my favorite character was a no-show. I'm a little disappointed. Hope this isn't a trend.

I liked the first episode from the new season, had a good laugh over some stuff (no spoilers!). Better than the Girls season premiere.

I just do not understand the motivation behind the relationship between Patrick and Kevin (is that his name.... Patrick's boss?).
I understand Kevin's motivation more. He's frustrated with his current relationship and the one other gay man in the work place requires little effort and less to hide, in comparison to seeking out someone to cheat with.
But why drive out to the middle of nowhere for this party just to have sex with Patrick? There is very little, if any, chemistry between these two people. Their relationship is opportunistic in nature.
If Patrick is supposed to feel something for this person, outside of sex, than it hasn't really been conveyed. I think it was exciting for him to work with an attractive gay man, again opportunist. Does he just need someone to pay attention to him that badly? That could be. It's clearly more than sex for him at this point. If it was just sex he wants, than why call Kevin? Why not hook up with random hot guy in the forest?
I'm hoping it becomes clearer. And maybe this says more about Patrick than I'm giving the show and the actors credit for, but neither character seems all that interested in each other.

I have to say I was expecting Lynn to show up and catch Dom cheating. But apparently it's an open relationship.

Based on the trailers for the rest of the season, it looks like Doris might have an actual story arc and exist as something more than "I'm a straight single woman spending all my time with gay men! HAHA!". Though it is funny that the straight woman in the show about gay men is the amusing outsider.

I know I'm (most likely) in the minority, but does anyone else not like Doris?

It seems like a lot of people just adore her. I don't. In fact, I find her annoying and can do without having her around.

I can see why she could be annoying, but she tells it like it is and the boys need that from time to time :D

I don't adore her. She actually reminds me a lot of my boyfriend's best friend, a forty-something straight alcoholic who is loud and argumentative and a demanding center of attention. Good-hearted, but narcissistic.

I do think she provides an energy the show often needs when the main characters are too often regretting their poor life choices or wallowing in confusion, insecurity, and/or a lack of fulfillment. But I don't think any of the characters are particularly "likable". This isn't that kind of show. I mean, everyone likes Richie because he's cute, romantic, sensitive, and seemingly genuine and can provide our protagonist with what he SHOULD want. But he isn't a main character for a reason.
