HBO's new show "Looking" starring Jonathan Groff

Re: HBO's new show "Looking" starring Jonathan Groff

checking

listen, whether the data us real half truth or not.

The point is inclusion of a dark male is necessary in my opinion

whether there are not many black people in sanfrancisco or not does not make it right not to inlcude one.

plus tehre are many talented dark skin actors, thats not an excuse.

at the end of the day we all have our opinons.

I hope next season they do include a dark skin black male. i feel this show has a very good potential. they need to open it up some more.

You are putting words in my words. I didn't say we should just live with all these things you have listed. I only meant the way we are sometimes portrayed in the media. Black, old, trans; whatever. All the things you listed are social wrongs that do need changed and no we shouldn't just live with those. It is fucked up.

we shouldnt live with racism or ageism amongst the gay community either.

I fail to see what difference it would make if there was a dark skin versus a light skin black person....

As I said before...I think this series is perfect for what it is at the moment. I also say that about the series Soul Food...never missed an episode. The cast was all black..they were all great. I loved the show. I don't think it would have been any better if they had racial diversity. It was perfect just the way it was. Period.

This is my point also. I just can't see the difference between having a light-skinned black guy or a dark skinned guy. As I stated before I loved Noahs Arc. There was no white main character and there was no need to have one. It was about a group of black friends and that was the focus, as it should be. I don't understand why everything written, filmed, etc. has to always be diverse. Life certainly isn't.

Actually life IS diverse and that's the point. Only certain pockets of certain communities cull their lives in a way to preclude diversity and that isn't something anyone should be proud of.

I don't think Taralen picks and chooses his battles carefully, and I still think Looking is diverse for having people of color on it. However, the discussion of skin color is an important one and I'm glad Taralen and RRuger brought it up. Unfortunately though, that's a problem across the board in film and television, not something particular to this show.

they won't.

unfortunate

Now watching through the whole season and now that we know the backstories a little bit, i think Season 2 will be like night and day! I can't wait!

Love Richie. The chemistry between him and Patrick is so hot!!!

Can't stand Agustin!

Cannot wait for season 2

just finished watching- started slow, but got better. They can get rid of the Augustine character- no interest in him- total dick....give us more Dom!

I'm going to be careful with how I say this.

I enjoyed the show. Think it's great, honestly in my top ten.

I also think there's something off about gay culture in the United States and race, but I'd warn anyone who is paying much attention to that fact to be careful. The more you notice it and give your voice to complaints about it the more it will show up in your lived experience. That's really "woo," but I've found it to be true.

I'm surprised the show actually grew on me before the end of season 1 (and not just because of Tovey's ass lol). I'm really looking forward to the second season now. :D looks good.

gotta go back and binge-watch the first again so I can "refresh" myself on things.

I wish I didn't have to look at Augustin though. ugh Can't stand that dude.

Re: HBO's new show "Looking" starring Jonathan Groff

I think they are, actually.

Looks like a guy Doris will be dating is dark-skinned?

Yeah but it looks like he's straight so no I'm still scarred from watching the season 1 pilot. It's better for me not to watch than to watch and bitch.

4 days until the new season. I just started the 1st season again this evening, it will give me time to refresh the memories so I can be ready for what comes on Sunday :D
