Alright, I love True Blood but tonight was the cheesiest episode of the whole season.
The scream before the opening sequence was cheesy... Russell writhing in Talbot's blood was cheesy... Bill in Sookie's "dream world" was cheesy... Nan Flanagan interrogating Eric was cheesy... Bill and Sookie in the shower was cheesy... Russell taking over the news broadcast at the end was cheesy. It was all cheesy. I understand that this show has a high camp factor (which I love about it) but tonight was over the top.
That said...
I really liked Holly's scenes tonight. She seems pretty interesting and I liked her interactions with Tara and Arlene.
Alfre Woodard was great as usual. So was Carrie Preston (Arlene). She really impressed me in that scene where Arlene broke down about the baby.
It sucks that they brought Franklin back just to kill him in less than two minutes. What was the point? He should've at least terrorized Tara for an episode or two.
I am so not interested in this Jason/Crystal story. Calvin Norris, Felton, the dude in the jail... I just don't care about any of them. The actress who plays Crystal annoys me more with every episode. I don't buy for one minute that Jason is interested in such a difficult, ugly bitch.
The Jessica/Hoyt scenes were nice but they felt out of place with everything else going on. I hope they get back together soon. I'm tired of watching them cry over each other, LoL. Alan Ball has played that story beat for long enough.
Sam's sudden violent streak was interesting. I wonder what that's about?
Tommy has a cute ass.
The scene with Sookie, Hadley and Hadley's son was unnecessary. It didn't seem relevant to the current plot whatsoever. That scene could've been cut altogether and I wouldn't have cared.
Overall, tonight's episode left me feeling sour. Hopefully next week's episode will be better. I think big things are going to happen now that Eric has been given free reign to go after Russell and Russel has completely lost his mind. Hopefully that will that build to a big climax in the finale.
