HBO's "True Blood" [merged]

Did Eggs lay that egg

That tryst or whatever between Maryann and Sam took place long before Sam actually arrived in Bon Temps. Tara inadvertantly drew Maryann's attention to Bon Temps

Yes but thats just a little too convinient that Sam just happened to be there.

The way it was written was that Maryann had unfinished business with Sam. She even said something like: Did you really think i wouldnt find you?

So she was looking for him for years.

Also Daphne is a shifter too so why didnt Mary ann just use her as the vessel? Why is she so intent on using Sam.

This was another good episode. We got to learn more about freaky-ass Maryann.

I was so shocked to see Eric fly too! I didn't know they had that power. I wonder when Bill will get that ability.

My favorite part was when that guy at the queen's place said to Bill, "I will have a sex with you"(!) I was like hell yea, do it Bill! That guy was so sexy. I've seen him on TV before but can't place him.

Oh, he's Jack Krizmanich, the guy who got raped with the pool stick in the Shadowboxer movie. He has one of the nicest, juiciest butts I ever saw!

I saw one episode of this show and got instantly hooked. I had to run online and download all the episodes I'm just now catching up. Incredible show I hope theres a 3rd season. but while I wait Dexter has started its 4th season Yay!

The writers messed up a little.

There was a flashback when Sam was a teenager and had sex with Maryann so she was already in the town years ago before Tara got her exorcism so to now say that Tara summed her doesnt ad up.

Maryann had unfinished business with Sam. She said it wasnt about the money when Sam wanted to repay for the stuff he stole.
Sam isn't from Bon Temps, he happened upon the town in the last five years

What is the Queen's interest in Sookie's family. it is no coincidence that her cousin is the Queen's girl. Also, Bill is keeping the whole thing secret. This is how bill and Sookie's relationship will end.
Hadley is just kinda there to be honest.

Spoiler! In the books, Hadley is turned into a vamp, but is killed mysteriously after the Queen marries the King of Arkansas blah blah.

But her interest in Sookie is kinda obvious with her being a mind reader. That gift could serve the Queen quite well.

You could be right about this. Just as it is no coincidence that Bill approached Sookie to begin with. In the original story (and I don't know if AB is going to carry this on to the series), the Queen of Louisiana commisioned Bill to court Sookie (yes, the Queen knows very well who Sookie is) in order to have her work for her. In the books, Eric somehow manages to get Bill to tell Sookie the reason he approached her. Bill has not option but to tell Sookie, and she bans him from her life. Bye bye Bill!

Does the Queen knows about Sookie through Hadley? Maybe, maybe not, that's not explained in the books either.

I liked how Bill tried to threaten Eric, and Eric owned Bill ... after all Bill also took advantage of a situation to have her drink his blood (just like Eric did) and get Sookie under his spell. So on this, they're even.

Bill threatening Eric to tell the Queen about the selling of V. Well, Bill is just a peon. Eric is a Sheriff. Vampiere hierarchy has the Queens and Kings (one for each state) as absolute rulers, and just beneath them are the Sheriffs, of which there are 5 in LA.

I would not be surprised if the whole "Let's sell V and catch the suckers that trade/use it" is not a plan by the Queen herself, and Eric is just carrying on her orders (just like Bill did courting Sookie). I very much doubt Eric would do that on his own, since he's very by-the-book when it comes to vampire rules.

I'm tired of the whole MaryAnn story, and it's really become a mess (for me). I'll be happy when it's over.
Did you notice in this ep how disrespectful Bill is to both his Sheriff and his Queen?

Eric won't banish him from his area because of Sookie, but still, teach that motherfucker a lesson or something.

Are the books better than the show? Thinking of getting the series....

Yep, I noticed he's becoming more of a jealous asshole with each passing episode (and the preview hints he's becoming even more of an asshole -forcing Sam to become an offering-).
If AB follows the books (and he sort of has, to get rolling the Sookie/Eric show), Eric is going to have his revenge on Bill when he forces him to come clean with Sookie. I doubt Eric will ban Bill, but hopefully he'll treat him as the lesser vampire he is (remember he's only 140 years old or so) compared to him. It'll be funny to watch Bill do Eric's bidding, as he's supposed to do.

I highly recommend the books Ramcito. I have read all books published so far (but one). Are they better? For me they are. They are a nice complement to the TV show.
true. Bill thinks he has the upper hand with his info on the V. But we know Eric is smarter, and will fix that fast. And once that happens, Bill will be reminded Eric is 1000 years old and his Sheriff.

kinda sad we have to wait 6 or so months to see Eric own Bill, but hey, I am patient.

Just a side comment. I hate how in movies and tv shows they always make female vamps relatively bisexual and lesbian but male vamps are generally always straight. In a lot of vampire fiction ive read over the years lots of vamps are sexually very fluid. Part of becoming a vamp strips people of human restraint and inhibitions. So it kinda put me off that Bill seemed pretty disgusted when the guy he fed from offered him sex.

in the books that is how it is. most of the vamps dont have a decernible sexuality. Remember first season, Bill had no problem with almost feeding off that guy with Hep D, and didn't seem to care that he was gay and all that.

but alas, Bill is still trying to act "human" so whateva. Then again, he looked equally displeased when the Queen offered sex to him herself

next season, when they get into Mississippi vamps, we will find that the King of Mississippi is gay and surrounds himself with men in his mansion.

I loved last night's episode. Damn HBO making us wait two weeks for the finale! Aaarrggghhh!!! Anyway, Evan Rachel Wood rocked as the Queen, and looked like a million bucks too. She's just awesome. I loved when the younger male offered to have sex with Bill, then Bill bit him making the Queen say "I love watching two men together." Also, my favorite line of the whole episode was when the Queen said to Eric and Bill "Why don't you two just fuck and get it over with!" (That might become a fantastic masturbatory fantasy scenario for me, LOL.) *|*

Wow, I have some reading to do for there are too many spoilers in this thread.

People didn't like ERW as the Queen? How come? She's suppose to be old, yet immature (she died young). That's exactly how she played it.

Maybe because they didn't explicitly imply this the way they've done with Bill, and Eric and Godric and every other vampire on the show. They always give us some indication as to how old the vampires are. In this case, unless you read the books, you're shit of luck on guessing her age and the behavior just would serve to make it even more confusing for you.

I've never read the books and know her age. She told us her age on the show, saying she was turned shortly before the Industrial Revolution. Being French (I assume since her surname is), that would mean the First Industrial Revolution...meaning during the Age of Enlightenment, so in the mid-to-late 1700s. She's floating around 300. Wikipedia says 500 on the show, 1100 in the books.

Exactly my point.

I'd imagine thought that at some point you would do some growing up, especially having become a vampire at such a young age. Maybe it's just her nature to behave childishly.

Then again, she behaves just like a lot of real life people that really need to grow the fuck up, and they aren't 300...500...1100...however the hell old she's supposed to be.

You forget though that she is the vampire Queen of Louisianna. That along shows she is all grown up she needs to be.

Seeing how vamps are immortal, powerful, etc. Maneuvering to become a king or queen of a territory is not easy, and must take time a patience. Hell, I am sure it isn't easy to become a Sheriff for that matter. And in the show, to be able to be a Queen at 400 shows some cunning that not even Eric has seemed to manage as he is only a Sheriff. Although in the book she is 1100 so that makes more sense for her power.

She has no need to act like anything someone else wants her to. She is the Queen. She can do whatever the fuck she wants, and she knows it.

It makes more sense if she were 1100yo, but for the show how can they explain how she knows so much about maenads (and presumably many other things as well) while Eric never heard of such a creature? Is there like a vampire prep-school for royal grooming or something?

I wonder if she had personal experience with another maenad herself, but why would she bother with a maenad? She might have wanted some maenad sex, but why would she have sex without drinking her blood? (which she can't of course.)

I think Eric is only a sheriff because Godric was one as well, so that he wouldn't out rank his maker if he were a king.

This much I don't doubt. I don't remember who it was exactly, but someone else in this thread mentioned that it is probably her that is behind the V selling idea and I read the spoilers from the book concerning her, Bill, Sookie and Eric, so I have no doubt in my mind that she is far more intelligent than we;ve had the chance to see.

I'm simply pointing out that in contrast to all the other vampires on the show that we've seen, given her age and especially power you would think she'd have a different behavior set to go along with all that. Maybe not. Who knows.

Also maybe you or someone else knows the answer to this already but I'd really like to know exactly what determines who gets to be in charge of what. If the Queen is supposed to be YOUNGER than Eric than why is she in charge? There has to be some criteria considering there is a whole council and everything.

I dunno. Eric seemed to panic a bit when Bill threatened to out him to the Queen. Unless of course, he is trying to throw Bill off his scent...

Maybe that's why she's queen. She's smart/cunning/coniving enough to know everything and and how to be in so much control over the people around her while at the same time being able have all the fun she wants. Maybe it's just an act to throw people off.

I know a few truly intelligent students who really don't have to work hard to get very high grades and are able to have a very active social life. This is in stark contrast to those students who spend their weekends day and night in the library and still just barely get a B.

I'm also wondering how/why she's queen. Either way, I love her (at least how she's portrayed so far in the show).

I just want more Eric/Lafayette scenes NOW

The last episode was pretty much filler, the only good thing was Evan Rachel Wood and Bill's tight pants. I felt so sorry for Tara, but she did what she had to do.
