HBO's "True Blood" [merged]

^ Yes, Marnie was THE witch. I just refrained from calling her a bitch for some odd reason. :p

Last night's episode fell flat for me. The flashback about how Fangtasia came to be was lame and I did not buy that Pam would be impressed by that speech.
I did buy that she would pass it off as hers.

Jessica needs to get a grip. This is tiresome. I hope next week is better.

The episode just was so blah. They are missing a good villain. The infected vampires and angry town folk are not cutting it. This season just seems to be going through the motions. Even the deaths of Alcide and Tara felt anticlimactic.

Tara's friends didn't even seem that bothered she died, surely they could have made her death have more meaning??? She was a major character and yet they treated her like she didn't mean anything to the show.

I''m confused as to why they would do that.

Biggest shocker of the season: Lafayette is a top.

Violet is so awful. And she's going to make some evil trouble for Jason and Jessica.

Lettie Mae was actually appropriate for a while there. Then fucked it up, of course, like she always does. I hate her SO much.

Eric killing the Yaks: glorious, except if Sarah gets away. Was that the same Yak vamp that killed his human lover in Paris?

Sarah has now effectively murdered her whole family: she made the tainted TruBlood that's killing her sister, and brought Yakuza pursuit to her parents knowing how ruthlessly they slaughter anyone who gets in their way. I can't think of a suffering-and-death that would be horrific enough to satisfy after the things she's done. I hope the writers don't just decide to make it anticlimactic.

Biggest shocker of the season: Lafayette is a top.

I'm told draq queens (which he only sort of is) usually are. Runs counter to the stereotype, but if you think about tucking...gotta be some length there. And big-hung guys are often pressed into service as tops.

But also, he was a top that time, with that guy. Might be a bottom with other guys, or with James at other times. I WAS delighted to see James bottoming though.

Did you notice that Jessica used the verb 'fuck' in its hetero sense? "James was fucking Lafayette," she said. Well, no, not in gay language. In gay language Lafayette was fucking James, and they CAN'T both happen at once (well, unless you're both huge hung Cirque du Soliel contortionists). In straight language they MUST both happen at once!

Ok I sawyer first two episodes but need a rant but hear me out. I'm so angry that it appear James will have a thing with Laffyette. Ok if Luke Grimmes quit because of this I cannot blame him simply it appeared in the last season that this vampire was a decent one who appeared to be falling for this young red headed female Vampire. I liked how he was a respectful person not a hound like Jason but no to be sensitive, thoughtful etc in this show you must be a Gay male I mean WTF? If you were playing this part and suddenly the scripts you were given has your character cheat and cheat with a another male which seems out of character I do not blame an actor for walking away. End of rant hope it makes sense.

He is an actor, he is paid to play a part. In whichever the story leads, he should be able to play the part. He is not the first actor to be asked to play a gay/bisexual character and he won't be the last. If it's a stretch, then all the better, because then he will grow as an actor and hopefully a better person. If he's not willing to do that then it's better for the show that he left. Nathan Parsons is perfect for the role and I love the chemistry between him and Nelson Ellis.

Yes I agree with the concept of stretching but at the same time if a character changes so dramatically to what they originally were then I can agree with an actor walking away from said part.

I don't think that it was that abrupt or even that much of a change. He wound up relating to Lafayette because he wasn't getting any kind of emotional commitment from Jessica, which still strikes me as being pretty sensitive and deep. And there was a six month time jump between seasons that would account for some of it.

The character wasn't really flushed out in the short time we saw him on last season. James was really just a nice guy Jessica met and nothing about him was set in stone. Not for me at least. He was only on for I believe 4 shows?

Nathan Parson's is very much my taste! I like, I like I Like!

I just loved his delivery.

I loved his read and went to show how little Jessica knew about him. Which after six months together she should have known. I think the only reason she went for James because that other Vamp claimed Jason. She was also still feeling horrible killing Andy's girls. Rightfully so, IMO.

Ok a few episodes in and in truth what was the point of James and Jessica really? Had they brought him in to interact with her help her defend Andy and his daughter it would be OK but to be honest any Vampire character could have been created for the Lafayette storyline. Jessica's is better as a character dealing with the guilt of what she did to Andy's daughter's and easily could have her single to do it. The more I watch the show the more I realise how awful it has got. Started going down hill around S4 which was still good as I really enjoy Fiona Shaw as an actress.

I agree! :)

I think this season isn't the best send off for a tv series.

They really haven't been that good for some time now. They're cable's "Glee"... shows that started really alternative and promising but just got fucked up by the creators and writers. Too much filler and over the top and not enough common sense character development for both shows. And not many will be sorry to see them go, which is a big hint they've long overstayed their welcome. Really a shame because there are some inspirational moments but hardly worthy of seeing even those in anything but YouTube clips.

^^ No, personally I love the show and probably the best supernatural tv, series for me since Buffy The Vampire Slayer but I think it's the right time to end it.

To be fair, if they could do much better it wouldn't be the last season.

I tend to agree with that. I think the whole show derailed in season 3 with the Russell Edgington and werewolves story lines. It went from an interesting story about a southern girl, her brother and some small town people with odd stuff happening in the background to a full blown SyFy channel bunch of comic book in your face crap.

^^Personally I have my favorite seasons and moments but the whole show has been nothing but great.
