You're assuming the goal is to preserve socialized healthcare. The "deal-maker" got out of prison in exchange for letting minority factions control the agenda.Silence = Complicity
They're getting something. I don't know what. But there is something that's been promised to insurance companies if they keep quiet for now.
When Rick Scott was governor of Florida, he worked hard to eliminate public-funded hospital districts in Florida, proposing that they be sold to for-profit healthcare organizations (like the one he used to be CEO of). In 2023, when now Senator Scott [R-FL] became chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, he proposed a 5 year sunset review of Medicare, which would put an elimination of socialized Federal healthcare on the table.
Project 2025 promoted elimination of Medicare part B and making Medicare C the only option. Dr Oz, who for some inexplicable reason is the director of CMS, is discussing putting pre-authorization and pre-certification requirements in place for Medicare plans. Adding pre-auth/pre-cert requirements would require another company to review medical necessity prior to service. And guess who has been doing medical necessity reviews for HMO/PPO plans for decades and would be the perfect entity to outsource the process to?
