Can you do pushups, situps, or jumping jacks? Could you lift bottles of soda in lieu of weights? Who does the grocery shopping?

It's the carbs. Pasta and bread will pack on the pounds. Try smaller portions (four slices of bread is a bit much). The walking is good, try doing the four miles a little faster each day. Good luck, I know how hard it is to lose weight and keep it off.
