If they had not saved Clare then we would not have had the interaction between her and Nathan in the office building(before she jumped out the window). I believe this incident is what caused Nathan to change his mind and fly off to help Peter. So if Clare had died in Texas, Nathan would have never met his daughter and he would have let the explosion happen. So in a sense when they saved the cheerleader they did save the world. Also it could be alluding to events that happen in later seasons. Maybe Clare does'nt save the world "as it were" this season but maybe she does in season 2 or 3.

We already know that isn't true. The comic series on NBC.com revealed that Linderman and Mr. Petrelli were war buddies.
 
if peter didnt save claire, then sylar would have been invincible and would go on a killing rampage, and the future would be worst than the 5 years gone future(esp with sylar becoming the prez), so they had to save claire to prevent that from happening
 
Oh my gosh guys this is so exciting (!) i am watching Americas Got Talent on NBC and during a commercial break i saw the first Heroes promo for the second season. It featured Claire (ny fave Hero). It was so exciting, it was like a breath of fresh air.


Reruns start on Monday leading up to a brand new episode, i forgot the date, but ill show again.


Can you believe it all new episodes coming in just a few weeks (!)


I or someone will start a season 2 thread i guess closer to the air date.
