The nation took a nasty turn after September 11, 2001, and dragging ourselves into a war which has led the country into substantial debt. Today we now face the problems in the Middle East, Education, Health Care, Social Security, and Economic Growth within the nation. Many of our men and women are working hard everyday not just within the shores of America, but over seas in our embassies and over in the Middle East.

We as Americans I know are wishing everyone in Iraq is safe, warm, and food to eat every night, and praying for their families for a safe and speedy return trip home. Furthermore, we cannot just focus our energies onto the war alone, we need to worry about our children, are they getting the education they deserve? Are there enough seats in the classroom? Safe after school programs for any student who asks for them? And what about our music programs which is the magic that our young children crave for?

More then just after school and safe school programs we need to also focus on the environment, decreasing our dependency on fossil fuels; relying more on affiant's fuels as hybrids, solar and wind powers. Also, Social Security is a subject that is always worried about for our seniors across the country. They have served our country and now its time we make sure that they are not just taken care of, but they are happy. The debt in Social Security needs to be, if not lowered, but eliminated. We also need to work on having more money for our cities, cleaning them up and making sure that our neighborhoods are safe, despite of the demographics or locations.

This beautiful country of ours is one of the world's biggest exporters and suppliers of agriculture. The latest freeze in California has destroyed nearly $1 Billion dollars in crop production, causing our produce to increase nearly three times higher in the markets across the country. We need to make sure that our country is not affected by this in the future; we need to find more land, with rich American soil that we can grow our food and product on that can feed the mouths of children, men, and women everywhere.

National Security has always been a heated topic in and out of Washington D.C, but we need to start making smarter moves; throwing money at this problem isn't going to solve much. We need to start making smart decisions and choices, if we're going to keep putting money into this issue; we need to say, "Where would this benefit the most?" We can start by taking more guns off the streets, cracking down on drug lords and sweat shops, moving forward with keeping our borders safe and slowing down and eliminating illegal immigration. It seems all of our resources have been going to this war, granted that War(s) take up a lot of our resources, but we need to keep the Nation stable, we cannot lose control of the Middle East and the Nation itself.

And last, but not least, we need to really achieve more affordable Health Care for our nation's families. We need to find health programs in which everyone can afford regardless of demographics, income or work history. Everyday too many Americans are going sick and untreated illnesses which can and will lead to further and possible future medical problems. If we can discover new ways for affordable programs like Medicaid and lower Medicare programs, we can establish a firmer stand on a healthier America.

Hilary Clinton holds all the qualities that this could be done, she has the stamina and force to take on Washington head on and make the next four years in office effective. America needs a new direction and new stand on curtain public issues; we need a new face, and a new smarter person in office. Clinton can do this for us, America.

Hillary Rodham Clinton for President in 2008.

Whether or not Clinton can find effective solutions to those problems, I think if she wins the nomination the Democrats will lose the election simply because of her divisiveness and the broad hatred she draws from many different groups.

Please cite for us all, a major piece of legislation that Mrs. Clinton authored. Just looking for some type of accomplishment for entertainment puposes.

Where the heck have you been? The Democrats have already won the next election by what happened with the House and Senate in 2006. And if you've been watching C-SPAN, MSNBC, CNN, FOX, etc....The Republicans are seen has liars, power hungry people, and not trust worthy....they've lost.

The next President is going to be Democrat....face it....they've lost.

The Washington Post - ABC News Survey have published their latest poll and it shows that Hillary Clinton and Rudolph Giuliani are pulling away. If this were a horse race, the holders of the Hillary ticket and the Rudolph ticket would be moving to the windows to collect their money.

Gonna' be close for Hillary should the Republicans nominate Rudy..............................I think Rudy is the only Republican who can win the election & out last the Hillary Clinton campaign (when the Democratic party nominaters her).........................

...Perhaps. ...

Hmmm, can someone tell me what legislation GW authored before he was elected as pres???? Give me a break! As can be seen, I not not think ANY female can be president yet in this country! This is a shame, since she is smart, she would have bill to offer advise and her husband has the national and internation experience to help her.

Seems funny in a way that Brits can elect a female and other coutries can too, but we can not. Hillary and an an Africn American VP would be an awesome combo!

GIULIANI?!?! is he even healthy enough to survive being president, or campaigning for that matter? Didnt he decide he was too sick to be mayor for awhile? I don't see the whole great mayor of america thing and I am from NY state. I would much rather ahve hillary. I think Obama would be cool cause he's black and we are overdue for a black president...but he has NO experience whatsoever...and I dont want another ignoramous as president. I wouldnt mind seeing him as VP to Hillary's Pres though!! Doubt he would go for it.

If they apply that kind of logic to their campaign, they are going to lose, no question about it.

The last election was theirs too, and they managed to fuck it up. They're going to have to work even harder to get it right this time.

Congressional elections don't predict Presidential ones. Voters chose Repulican leadership in Congress in 94, but reelected Clinton in 96. Presidential elections are determined just as much (maybe even more so) by the strengths/weaknesses of the candidates as they are by party affiliation of the electorate.

That is repeated by so many; I hope her whole campaign is aware of this if she hopes to win. The sooner she starts on breaking this 'common' perception the better off she will be. Otherwise, she's really just wasting a lot of people's time and money.

Well, it's true at least to an extent. To the Democrats' opponents, someone like Obama they might just dislike or be indifferent to, but many absolutely despise Hillary with a passion. That doesn't mean its impossible for her to win, but it would be a very vicious and hard effort to oppose the level of resistance she will encounter.

The answer to your question is none because Bush was a Governor. Governors do not author legislation. So now that I've answered your question, maybe you can answer mine.

Ah, youth! Almost 2 years to the election...that's an eternity!

If Bush pulls us out of combat well in advance of the November election, and his administration has no official candidate (no Bush re-election, no Cheney candidacy), it can be portrayed as a clean slate for Giuliani or McCain or Mitt Romney or whoever.

Plus, the Democrats control both the Senate and the House up to the next election, so can be blamed for either a) screwing up the country or b) preventing Bush from doing wonderful things; also, the Republicans can play the card of "you don't want the Democrats in control of all three branches, do you?" (Forget the fact they controlled all three for most of the last six years - we're talking politics here, not reality.)

In addition, as John Kerry proved, the wrong candidate can lose a sure thing. Remember, Bush was pretty well despised and disrespected in 2004, and got re-elected.

Finally, the Republicans play DIRTY - accusing McCain of having illegitimate mixed-race babies in South Carolina (where they care about those things) in the 2000 primary, accusing Kerry of lying about his war record, accusing Max Cleland (who lost 3 limbs in combat in Vietnam) of being a traitor (because he wanted Homeland Security employees to have civil service protection)...and do I need to remind you of the whole Whitewater - Monica - etc. saga? And Willie Horton, which got Bush 41 elected in 1988... Ah, they are crafty and without morals, those Republicans. Beware!

All I'm saying is, don't count your chickens before they're hatched! Stay Alert / Stay Alive! Don't trust them as far as you could throw them. Stuff like that.

As for Hillary, I'll probably vote for any Democrat over any Republican in 2008, but I don't get the big deal about her. I don't understand either the adulation of her, which reminds me (unfair though it may be) of the gay "diva" phenomenon (she's famous, she's fabulous, we love her!), or the rightwing hatred of her. What does she stand for? I don't see any reason to love or hate her. I hope that either we nominate someone else or that she proves me wrong and turns out to be a great candidate.

Re: Post #1

The first six paragraphs could be any candidates talking points from either party.

I am not sure your last paragraph lists any substantial reasons that Hillary is the one who possesses the unifying qualities to get those tasks accomplished. More detailed arguments would be helpful to support your assumptions

So, America is not ready to make another history - a first female president?

Wow, I wonder if Cheney has thought to himself, "I am the sitting vice president; I should run!"

Your definition of "all three branches" probably differs from those of us who has [strike]read[/strike] [strike]opened[/strike] been remotely near a civics book.

I find it quite inexplicable myself. *shrug* And at this so early stage, I still don't care. Her campaign, on the other hand, should.

Mea culpa! You're right... I'm biting my tongue re the Supremes, because they are "controlled" by the Republicans, but I'm trying to be a good citizen and assume that they are nine objective arbiters of Constitutionality... (It's so hard to forget Bush v. Gore...)

i think it will be a victory either way if Obama or Hilary wins!!!!! a landmark - either the first women pres or first non-white.

Mitt Romney would be the first Mormon...

Rudy Giuliani would be the first Italian-American...

The anti-Hilary "vote" is based on a Liar's Production as is the Bush administration.

Provided she makes no big blunders, she WILL be president. She just knows how.

I want a president who knows the job.

Obama knows how to be a leader. That's most of the job.
Hilary has my vote because she knows the rest as well.
