There's ongoing news stories about what ever became of the money that Trump was alleged to have collected on behalf of veterans during the election and of the 
$107 million that was donated for the inauguration.  Apparently, these "campaign events" and re-election fundraising (for 2020!) that Trump has going, as well as the MAGA merchandise that he's selling, are being used to pay the legal fees for Trump and his family (including Donald Jr, who was neither involved officially in his 2016 campaign organization nor involved in any official capacity in the current government).

Because those who don't learn from the past are damned to repeat it.
It's a grand American tradition that we're skeptical of government and politicians.   Skepticism can be healthy.
Looking at the events of the past 9 months, it doesn't matter whether one liked or disliked George W. Bush, Bill Clinton or Obama- none of these previous Presidents had this level of chaos, incompetence or mendacity.  There's no rational person that would believe that any previous president or any of the Republican or any Democratic nominees from 2016 would be conducting themselves by the current occupant of the Oval Office.
This.  Is.  Not.  Normal.
We should never get to a point where we believe that 45's conduct is normal or acceptable.
