Okay for one, if you are not out then get off the pedestal... and stop saying that people need to be better or stronger. And you don't know anything about me. Let me explain one thing... bullying has long term effects. I knew someone who took their own life. So saying they should have been stronger or had more balls shows you don't understand the long terms effects of it.
And are you even out? You're 21 or 22 years old right? Please stop saying you've experienced it all. Being bullied for being gay is far worse then being bullied for being skinny. I've experienced both. I've experienced many kinds of bullying, but nothing compared to the bullying about being open about my sexuality.
You don't honestly know the psychological effects of bullying on LGBT students. LGBT students experience a majority of the bullying and most suicides are linked to the LGBT community. That's a big problem.
well, you're not understanding me, dude. look @ it like this. bullying is wrong. i totally agree. bullies are fucked up people. i agree with that. you have kids getting bullied for all different sorts of reasons. some kids get bullied for being skinny, some kids get bullied for being short, some kids get bullied for being gay. either way, no matter what the kids are getting bullied over, it's plain wrong.
but let's be realistic here, bullying unfortunately is part of what happens when people interact and socialize with each other. we're in a world where people pretty much boost themselves up in putting others down. it's a part of life. it happens everywhere from america to tahiti. it's just like crime. you can't escape it.
we can make all sorts of laws, sanctions and etc. do you THINK it's going to change anything? if you say yes, then you're kidding yourself. people WILL be people. it's that in our culture. america always condones the bully mentality. that's just the way it is. this country likes to promote bullying other countries, bullying tax payers, and the whole nine basically forcing people to live their lives in a certain way. sadly this whole country's history is based off of that
in no way am i saying that i condone bullying in any shape or form. i am NOT a bully for having this viewpoint and no, in no way am i blaming these kids for the situations they are in.
now as for these kids. what can we do to keep them from killing themselves? you know, should we start intergrating lgbt students into separate schools for themselves like how new york city some years ago where lgbt students were getting bullied as well, beat up, victims of hate crimes and etc? what can we do to solve the problem? to me, either way, we're talking about the kids here. forget the bullies. what solution do you have to keep these kids from killing themselves? i think it goes beyond bullying, man and even if we focus on the kids that are killing themselves over getting bullied. what about those that are just killing themselves over different reasons such as not being able to accept that they're gay, being rejected by their family and loved ones, and etc? we can't single out those kids that are getting bullied and exclude everyone else.
me personally, we should look @ this as an issue with the kids. we have lgbt support groups. we have centers. we have shit to pretty much be a support system for these kids. you know because i honestly don't know what solution we can do because the whole "it gets better" campaign is pretty much saying the same shit i'm saying. the whole idea is pretty much "things might be hell now but you have to hold on because things will get better". what else do you want them to do?
keep this in mind as well. if you're thinking about making laws against bullying lgbt students then there will be court challenges made about how come there's no laws against bullying period. then they'll have to go into the definition of bullying and etc. people will just simply get annoyed and looking back at these kids wondering what's wrong with them. i'm just being real here.
