I think some of it is the emotional attachment. You grow up reading these characters, and begin to feel like you 'know' them, you've been there through all their hardships, experiences, growths, advances...

... and then one day, POOF! The reset button is pushed, and they're a total stranger. All that time invested in their lives basically never happened, and they're someone totally different then the 'friend' you knew before.

Since you guys are talking comic,I'll say I was/am a huge F4 fan.Mostly of Kirby and Lee's work.Waid and Wieringo (RIP) were great too.I like the more cartoony styles.It looks better focused.The only person I've seen do gritty well is Frank Miller.I don't read comics much though.I mostly read TPBs.

The quality of his art notwithstanding, Frank Miller is a racist, a misogynist, and a homophobic asshole. He also has about as much respect for history (I mean, even for a comic book) as I have for a pile of dogshit, which by coincidence is also as much respect as I have for Frank Miller.

I agree.I try to separate then man from the work.I've only read Sin City vol.1,The Dark Knight Returns,and Year One.It seems like he has women mostly as Strippers and Hookers.I mean he turned Catwoman into a prostitute.

I did collect some Justice Society, and Outsiders, and All Star Squadron, depending on whom was guest starring. I stopped being as interested in Justice Society after the Crisis on Infinite Earths. It just wasn't the same without the Earth-2 versions of Wonder Woman, Superman, Huntress...

The above titles were the ones I collected religiously. Others were hit and miss, and conditional of plot/guests. Halo was my favorite Outsider. What happened to her???

The point is; I worship people with artistic skills and seldom criticize what I cannot achieve myself.

Let's see...There were 3 Outsiders teams...one in 1983-1988, the next was 1993-1995, the last in 2003-2011. (Can't wait for the 2013 revival!). Halo was in all three, and temporarily swapped bodies in the 1993 version, but regained her original body.

It was probably the 80' s one. The line up included: Halo, Katana, Geo-Force, Batman, and Metamorpho, and the chick with the blue glowing eyes (was that it?).

Oh... Blue Beetle was on my list too, from the 80's.
