Today's Thirteen: My recent bookmarks.
Reading reviews of gay erotica anthologies, I sometimes find complaints about the stories having too much about AIDS and HIV. It seems rather obvious to me that erotica reflects the culture, and for those of us who were sexuality active in the 1980s, dealing with AIDS was central to sexuality, directly or indirectly. Today's list includes some results from my search for articles on AIDS themes in erotica. I didn't actually find articles on that topic, but what I found was interesting. I decided to expand the list to other web sites I bookmarked in the past few weeks.
1.
Beyond Masculinity From the site: “Beyond Masculinity is a groundbreaking collection of 22 provocative essays on sexuality, gender, and politics -- all written by gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer men.” So far, these are excellent. There’s a link to save all of them in a single file or in multiple files, or you can listen to them.

Trevor Hoppe’s master’s thesis: Being Gay Post-HAART: Young HIV-Negative Gay Men Negotiating Identity, Desire, and Sexuality. He is also the editor of the first item. Or, for a quicker read, his two-page article in American Sexuality magazine:

3. A handy
online converter for Word to pdf, or the reverse. I use this often. My recent bookmarks linked to different converters, but this is the one I always end up using.

Dark Erotica - Resources for writing, particularly erotic fiction (romance and other).
5. Jeb Corliss does amazing things with his base jumping and wing suit jumping/flying. Search on his name to find others. “Grinding the Crack” (linked here) is a single, awesome flight. “Overcome” is another good video – it has several of his jumps and other activities.

HIV and Barebacking - HIV Conversion Parties - Bug Chasers I don’t usually use About.com for research, but it can be a good starting place. I think this was saved after reading posts on JUB about a web site for bug chasers and those who “gift” them.

Simon Sheppard - Gay Erotic Writer An excellent writer and editor. I bought extra copies of his “Homosex: Sixty Years of Gay Erotica” to give as gifts. This picture captures the feel of Sheppard's writing and reminds me of the cover of that book.
10. Draco Tops Harry. [link removed- are they over 18 here?] Fan fiction in which Harry Potter is more than just Draco’s schoolmate. I haven’t taken the time to read these, but I read other x-rated fan fiction (usually Star Trek, all series).

Towards a general theory of BDSM and power. I’ve been impressed with the posts on Freaksexual's blog.

History of AIDS Up to 1986 They have a lot of resources on HIV and AIDS. I don’t remember why I looked for this particular information, but it seemed worth saving.

Kink Research Overviews Intriguing, but I haven’t yet explored this site.
