That's all I need to know about this movie. I'm going to see them on the big screen.
To rebuke your comment about Banner being replaced by Mark Ruffalo, it should be noted that before Edward Norton, Banner was portrayed by Eric Bana, and yes, the Incredible Hulk IS a sequel to Ang Lee's HULK.
just sayin'...
"John Carter," Disney's $250 million sci-fi spectacular, floundered at the domestic box office in its opening weekend, pulling in only $30.6 million, according to studio estimates. Universal's "The Lorax," a $70 million animated picture in its second week of release, beat it by almost $9 million.
Not that anyone expected otherwise.
In fact, the closest thing to a surprise is that "John Carter" performed as well as it did. On Thursday, Disney said it "aspired" to an opening above $30 million, but tracking had it a few million dollars below that.
John Carter looks terrible. The only promising aspect of the movie for me is the sexy lead actor running around shirtless for two hours.
On Ed Norton; Norton wanted in. I found a lot of interviews where Norton voiced anger about not being cast. This one stands out for me: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=35290
I used to assume; give me a hot young actor in skimpy clothing and stunning special effects and I'll watch anything.
I was wrong.![]()
lol well I disagree with you all then. I watched the whole thing, did not get bored once and really liked it.![]()
Yet TC hates Game of Thrones. Taylor Kitsch is a pansy compared to Jason Mamoa. Jason can make girls' pussies wet with 4 words.
It's from Edgar Rice Burroughs, and you were expecting Shakespeare-style dialogue? Seriously? Part of what makes Burroughs fun to watch is his cheesy dialogue and over-the-top action; the movie looks fine to me. Sometimes you want steak and sometimes you want a little cheese; Burroughs is arguably one of the best cheeses out there. Next you'll be saying how you were disappointed in Conan for its lack of subtlety....The movie was a mixture of corn-ball-dialogue courtesy of the screenwriter, Very attractive Actors and great special effects...The action scenes and special effects don't save "John Carter"...The Director was all over the place and lost his way....I havent read the book but Disney should have trusted the film to someone else...The films budgest was well over $200-Million and they should have hired a Masterful Director that could handle such a task......
Yeah, by someone who got his fan card in a box of Cracker Jacks....If you're a Sci-Fi Geek like me you're probably making plans to see "John Carter"....You won't be able to say you wasnt warned..........
lol well I disagree with you all then. I watched the whole thing, did not get bored once and really liked it.![]()
Even looking at the money behind it: Game of Thrones has 10 hours of footage and cost about $50 million to make. John Carter cost 5 times as much and has 80% less footage. Clearly there is a lot of money that went somewhere it probably should not have.
Add another $100 million plus for promotion.
Keep in mind that the advertising budget is usually about 2-2.5 times the budget of the movie, and right now the trailer is getting a lot of air on the Disney channels....
