House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) says no aid for Joplin without cuts

There is position. Then there's heartlessness. This line has been crossed.

I guess when his state/district requires assistance, the rest of us should demand cuts too. To his own salary.

I started to say unbelievable, but guess what! It is believable.
What an asshole!!!

Those slimeball Republicans are politicizing this tragedy. Un fucking real.

I've tried to find anything about this story on legitimate news sources like CNN, ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS .... and nothing.

If you google the title, you will only find this story on liberal blog sites.

I have no idea whether if Cantor said what is "reported" to have said -- if he did, shame on him, shame on all the posters and blogs for using Joplin to promote their agenda.

Using the pain and suffering of the people of Joplin is a poor way to score political points.

President Obama will go to Joplin anyway. :D
If the voters who could have made a difference did not stay home last November, Mr. Cantor would not be the house majority leader. You make choices; you must pay the consequences. Perhaps we have a little food for thought for 11/6/12 - or not.

Try the Congressional Record - maybe a liberal blog site in your estimation, but not for everyone. I call into question anyone who regards FOX as a "legitimate news source" as suspect. The only "agenda" is yours.

Cantor is such a miserable stupid cunt.

Not to mention The New York Post, as Jack likes to cite from.

Hey Jack, did you forget how to google, or did you just go through looking for liberal links. I found this on my first google.

Cantor learns DeLay's lesson on disaster spending

by Stephen Dinan

Published on May 23, 2011

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said Monday that if Congress passes an emergency spending bill to help Missouri's tornado victims, the extra money will have to be cut from somewhere else.

"If there is support for a supplemental, it would be accompanied by support for having pay-fors to that supplemental," Mr. Cantor, Virginia Republican, told reporters at the Capitol. The term "pay-fors" is used by lawmakers to signal cuts or tax increases used to pay for new spending.

In case you don't know or have forgotten, the Washington Times is a conservative newspaper.

This from Wikipedia:

The Times is known for presenting socially and politically conservative views.

You do know how to use Wikipedia don't you?

Can't they just raise taxes on the wealthy to pay for it? Simple solution really.

Wow, I didn't think the Republicans were that heartless. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Just when you think they can't get any lower, they keep shoveling.

I figured the shitbag Republicans would use this disaster to further their agenda. They're holding Joplin hostage.

What a bunch of dicks.

Joplin, Missouri Tornado: House GOP Prepares $1 Billion Aid Package Amid Budget Fight

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/24/joplin-missouri-tornado-h_n_866242.html

...and golly gee from a liberal blog, no less.

Did you send any money to help the victims of the Joplin tornado?

looks like the thread is over.

Not much of a story here, frankly. It took less than 24 hours for them to find the money someplace.

The disaster aid package would be financed by a $1.5 billion cut from a loan program to encourage the production of fuel-efficient vehicles. That means the new spending wouldn't add to out-of-control budget deficits.

sorta like premature ejaculation ;)

by the little people

will not hold my breath for the retraction [-X

I'm finding Mr. Ryan's attitude rather disturbing. For him it's all about the money. At this very moment, Oklahoma is getting hammered. Screw those lousy freeloaders - right?. I hope his life is tornado-free. Living in Virginia makes that a pretty safe bet.

Or rather than continuing to kick the can down the road he's forcing them to figure out where the money needs to come from. Because god knows that congress is SO good at fixing these things after they happen.

Here's what probably really happened: Before he even made the statement, they had already found the program they were going to cut. Then when the committee met today (and passed the cut/reallocation) there were no fights no nothing. Just a vote.
