How can it be a Christian thing to celebrate the removal of ones foreskin ?

Please refer to the quote to which my post responded.
so what's your point then? it's pretty standard that circumcision isn't proscribed for Christians, though some Christian groups might practice it. There are certainly core Christian tenets and beliefs, and circumcision isn't one of them. I just said that there is mandate for circumcision. I'm surprised that professed Christians here don't get that, or they have their own personal Bibles in their heads.

OK a couple of things. You appear to be arguing with yourself. No one has said that Christians in general must be circumcised.

Second that first sentence is odd and confusing, "proscribed" means legally forbidden and substituting that for the word it reads like this:

so what's your point then? it's pretty standard that circumcision isn't legally forbidden for Christians, though some Christian groups might practice it.

But I get the sense that you mean "required" not "proscribed":

So, here's the situation per the actual text sacred to both Jews AND Christians as the word of God - Old Testament, circumcision IS REQUIRED for both Christians AND Jews who were mostly the SAME PEOPLE at the time. They WERE NOT different religions at first. Christ was supposedly the King of the Jews of the Jewish line of David, then they started proselytizing Greco-Romans who objected to circumcision amongst other things and the practice became an obstacle to conversion, so they tossed it - which is SPECIFICALLY dealt with in the New Testament.

YES, at first Christians were required to get circumcised, now they're not. It's one of the things that caused the Jews to part ways with the Christians.
